Meet Bianca Stanley

We were lucky to catch up with Bianca Stanley recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Bianca, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

I developed my confidence and self esteem through my faith in God. Growing up, I actually struggled a lot with low self esteem. I was darker than everyone else, taller than everyone else, my features were different than everyone else. I criticized myself a lot and believed a lot of what others said about me. I was scared to have a voice. As I got older, I started leaning more on God and truly understanding who He says I am. I realized my quirks, my gifts, my struggles, none of these are by accident and that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. That is the beautiful thing about everyone being different.

As I grew into adulthood, I also found an outlet in clothing and fashion. It became a way for me to express myself, feel good in my own skin, and show the creativity God placed inside of me. Between my faith and discovering what makes me feel authentically ‘me’, my confidence sky rocketed.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Social work is my profession and my passion. Outside of that, I am a part time content creator. It honestly started off just for fun until I made the decision to take it seriously. It seems like once I had a viral moment and placed my email in my bio, things started looking up. I have done numerous collabs with many huge brands.

What’s really exciting is the reach my content receives. Seeing people engage, share, learn, and actually look forward to what I post is rewarding, It has become a really good balance in my life which is pouring into others through my career while also expressing myself creatively online and connecting with a much bigger audience than I ever imagined.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

One skill I would have to say is being relatable. People do not want to see cookie cutter/perfection on social media. I crack jokes, talk with my Baltimore accent, show my mistakes, wrong or right it is being recorded. Others learn from my mistakes and I learn from the comments. This shows authenticity and that I am 100% being myself, unapologetically.
A quality that I am big on is romanticizing life. I intentionally view everyday as a day I can make better than the last. I focus on and celebrate small moments. This is a mindset shift where you are grateful for every single thing in your own life. The air you breathe, able to move your limbs, even to get your fave drink from your fave coffee shop. Focusing on the positive in life so this gives you little energy to think of the negative.
Another skill would be spreading information. There is no faster way to share information than on social media. Showing a hack to the world while also showing your creativity is everything.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

My mom. My mother has been the most impactful person in my life, aside from my grandmother. My mother raised me as a single mom and taught me how to overcome challenges with God in my life early. My mother taught me to give my worries, anxieties, and heavy loads to God and move on with life. He will never give me more than I can bear. My mother has been so supportive with my professional career and roots for me daily with content creation. I am a social worker because of my mom. I take after her in so many ways as far as being caring, empathetic, a good listener and understanding. She is my best friend and I love our bond.
