Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bin Luo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bin, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic is a composite of influences from three key sources. Firstly, my upbringing in a science-oriented family ingrained in me a sense of discipline and seriousness, setting the tone for a strong work ethic since childhood. Secondly, the camaraderie with friends both within and outside the film industry has been influential. Their dedication to their work, even when helping me, always inspires me to bring my best to the table. Lastly, within myself, I harbor an unrelenting passion and respect for the craft of cinematography, setting a higher standard that consistently drives my work ethic. This amalgamation of influences shapes my approach, pushing me to maintain high standards and a deep appreciation for the art form of cinematography.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
In my perspective, three essential qualities have significantly shaped my approach both professionally and personally.
Firstly, patience is a cornerstone of my philosophy. Trusting the process and waiting for the right time, especially when faced with challenging obstacles, has been integral to my journey.
Secondly, the ability to keenly observe and make decisions based on insights rather than surface impressions is crucial. I’ve learned that impactful solutions often stem from astute observation and thoughtful decision-making, whether in work scenarios or everyday life.
Lastly, the comfort with solitude has been a vital attribute. In a world inundated with rapid changes and fragmented information, finding solace in moments of reflection has been pivotal in maintaining emotional equilibrium amidst life’s highs and lows.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m genuinely passionate about collaborating with talented filmmakers and storytellers. There’s a Chinese saying, ‘Birds of a feather flock together,’ and I believe it resonates deeply within our industry. I’m keen on connecting with individuals who consistently demonstrate a genuine passion for filmmaking and storytelling.
For me, the power of a story is paramount. I’m particularly drawn to horror, urban legends, and dark tales. I find these genres incredibly compelling and would love to connect with like-minded enthusiasts. Furthermore, I haven’t had the opportunity to work on experimental films, but I’m eager to explore this realm and contribute my skills to such projects.
I firmly believe that in our industry, collaboration and shared passions often lead to exceptional creative outcomes. I’m excited about the prospect of joining forces with individuals who share a love for storytelling, especially in the realms of horror and experimental filmmaking.
