Meet BinKKy Baby

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful BinKKy Baby a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

BinKKy, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

Ive learned that despite my outward appearance success and productivity are no stranger to me. Self expression is key to being original but at the same time one must be able to speak and act like that/those of the surroundings. Appearing different is only merely a means to gain access and juggle the attention of many. Being just as intelligent and well spoken as your peers is the key to obtaining your success. Fortunately for me I have a natural proclivity to stand out matched with a charismatic demeanor. I can’t really say I learned this at any point, it kinda just had always been a part of me. One thing I must add it that planning never has really worked for me, I’ve always been a “figure it out once I get there” kind of individual. I freestyle all my songs and my entire life to date. It’s easy!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Well outside of my album dropping earlier this year I’ve been working on a special business venture. I don’t want to spoil it so I won’t say to much. I’ll put it like this “We accept credit or debit”. Oh and plus I just released new visuals last Saturday. RIO 🥷🏾

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Learning marketing an promotion is the best way to go. When your starting out you don’t have a lot of resources, it’s good to try and learn skills to fit your need on your own before looking toward others. Also patience is a virtue!
