Meet Bitten/destiny Miranda

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bitten/destiny Miranda a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Bitten/Destiny, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?

My self-care has been a journey! It is very normal for self-care to take on many forms as we move though life. Self-care needs to be meaningfully recharging, nourishing, and self supportive. My self care consists of trips to bodies of water, like my favorite beach or local lake. Connecting to water allows me to feel held by Mother Earth in a way that helps me zoom out existentially, and practice compassion. On a more feasible scale, spirit washes/cleanses to recall my energy, turn inward for energy check ups & healing, and attend to my physical body. Self-care, for me, is also things like settling into human pleasures, like nutritious meals, movement such as yoga or dance, sex & intimacy, or socializing. Maintaining or attending to my space when I am able allows me to set up my future self for an easier more successful time. Spiritual hygiene practices such as decluttering, cleaning with enchanted items, or attending to altars contribute to my over all ability to exist more contently. These practices impact my effectiveness by clearing space for messages to be heard, creativity to flow, and helps keep mental health challenges in check. I am not very effective at being a person when my space reflects my mind’s chaos, which spirals into being ungrounded and blocked. Self-care looks different to everyone, and isn’t always easy. Especially when self-care looks like distancing from people or situations that are comfortable but stifling.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

We serve the community and clients across the country in spiritual endeavors that enhance or integrate them into a more fulfilling human experience. We rely on an education in psychology to bridge the gap between the Seen and Unseen parts of yourself, and teach people to tap into their inner knowing, connecting back to Source & whatever purpose or lesson one could be experiencing when they meets us. I feel I have a purpose to create magic in everything I do, and pass on the knowledge to empower people to be curious about the way magick & science braid themselves to form reality. We fulfill this work by holding space in divination sessions for exploration of the soul & problem work through, ritual offerings that are tried & tested, and continued research, development, and education. Self development and alignment is an integral part of what we do, and allows for the business entity to grow and change as we do, making space for new endeavors & methods of service. We are just about to unleash our new website that will serve as a online resource for self support & tools for your journey. We specialize in intention & spell candles, advise beginners on the craft, and my favorite, address shadows & self sabotage frequently found in any self betterment practice. We also act as a contact for help with spirits, spiritual attacks, and more! Tell your home spirits we said “hi!”

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

When I reflect on my journey, and who I was in the beginning, I notice the willingness to be open. I notice my drive to be better than I was, and create ease in my life. I recall my love of education and exploration of topics & skills. Being able to change beliefs and integrate new information or perspectives allowed me to actually receive the guidance and experiences that pushed me deeper into my spiritual world, along with my imagination of what I could be or wanted to be. Having the compassion for yourself to care about where you are and the drive to create your life to the best of your abilities, even when that means sacrifice and loss of familiar things, is integral, paramount even, to any self exploration or betterment process. Receiving support is often frowned upon in corporate worlds, almost if not explicitly implying there is some deficient of morals because of the need for help. This just never felt right or aligned to me. It never made sense. Humans are designed to be a burden, after all, we are a community driven species!
My advice for anyone starting out: Don’t be afraid to look your reality in the face. Everything is temporary, and the time will pass with or without you. Be graceful in receiving help (even if its a war inside you first!), and show up for others when you can. Get to know you as you are, your best self, and your worst self, whatever it takes. Talk to yourself, have check ins, journal/therapy, etc. Find something that gets you in tune with YOU.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

My biggest area of growth over this last year of life has been finding a more uniform yet sustainable presentation for my offerings & other products. Chaos can be controlled! As much as I love the one of a kind type looks, it creates a very overwhelming visual for a market table, and often people walk by or don’t really “see” the items. I have thrifted and found beautiful new shelves to start utilizing more vertical space. I have also found another small business to fulfil my sticker orders! I have gotten very good at Canva and other forms of graphic design to make templates for myself and continue to find ways to improve. As much as I miss the hand written feel of a info card, its really hard to make that many now! Also, keeping track of consistent recipes and staying organized for myself has been a major project.
