Meet Bjorn Backman

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bjorn Backman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Bjorn, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
From the people around me, always building each other up. Knowing I have a responsibility to those who believe in me. I believe it’s important to act as a role model to everyone around you, as even the smallest impact on someone can lead to great change. When attaining success, it is one’s responsibility to reach a hand out to help others get to where you are. This is how we build a stronger and more resilient community.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a simple Norwegian country boy, raised on a farm in the rural countryside of a small town in Norway. I always dreamed of becoming an actor and moving to the US. Now, finally pursuing it, I am taking every step in order to make that little country boy proud.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
An indomitable spirit, a will to succeed, and lots of courage were keys to get to where I am today. Plus lots of support from family and friends. Never forget where you came from.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
They never held me back. They always supported me in doing my own thing which I’m really grateful for today. I also appreciate how our relationship has gotten better over the years, which is interesting considering we now live on separate continents. I suppose distance makes the heart grow fonder.
