We recently connected with Bjorn Englen and have shared our conversation below.
Bjorn, thrilled to have you on the platform as I think our readers can really benefit from your insights and experiences. In particular, we’d love to hear about how you think about burnout, avoiding or overcoming burnout, etc.
It’s something maany suffer from. I suffered from it quite a bit. I do believe it comes from not resting and working too hard. Or more so from working wrong and adding too much stress. Much of it comes from not putting your foot down when people treat you bad at work, or just walking away. Close one door and ten new ones will open.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m the bass player of the band Soul Sign, which will release a brand new record this year. We all already have a single out called Clean Soil. I have played with many multiplatinum artists such as Quiet Riot, Yngwie Malmsteen, Scorpions guitarist Uli Jon Roth, Dio Disciples and members of the Supremes, Elton, John, and many more. I have played on over 60 albums and performed over 2000 live shows, I have educated many musicians and bass players for over 30 years through private lessons and classes, and at schools like the Musicians Institute, Los Angeles College of Music, Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp, and many more, as well as through clinics and master classes world wide.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Professionalism, Self Discipline,
Health Awareness.
Stay the course and prioritize these things.
Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
I would spend more time with family and close friends. Travel to certain destinations. Get involved in politics and world matters. Try to help treat the sick state of the music business, primarily the fact that artists and writers are not getting paid properly for music streaming.
