We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Black Simonè a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Black, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
To develop self-confidence relies on your determination to work on oneself. When it comes to my self-confidence journey, the most important thing when it comes to self-confidence is to follow people who look like you, spend time with yourself, and slowly try to get yourself out of your comfort zone. I tend to follow mostly plus size influencers or women of color, because representation inspires me further to love my blackness and my size. I think it’s also good to spend time with yourself; take yourself out on mini dates, take walks and listen to happy music or inspirational podcast, wear a cute outfit you’ve been dying to wear, but haven’t felt the confidence to wear said outfit. Your self-confidence journey starts with you, so don’t wait and well, start it!
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Well to start off, my name is Black Simone! I am a Plus Size social media influencer and model! I have worked with brands such as Temu, Yitty, and many more! I aim to promote brands in unique ways, while also connecting to a wide and diverse audience! I believe what’s the most exciting part about my job is creating the content! This is because, of course, having creative control over content for company’s advertisement campaigns is so fun, and it’s a passion that came through from my love for fashion!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three qualities that was most impactful for my journey as an influencer is consistency, staying motivated, and continuing to fall in love with what I do, whether it’s simple creating art, receiving products, or simple rebranding my fashion style. My advice for folks who are early in their journey is simply to start, believe in you craft, and fight to continue said craft, even if you have to fight yourself and your internal battles.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am always looking for partners to collaborate with! Feel free to shoot me a dm on my Instagram the_black_simone to connect!
