Meet BLUNOTE

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to BLUNOTE. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi BLUNOTE, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I believe I get my resilience from my upbringing. I was a small scrawny kid growing up in rough neighborhoods. Bigger kids tried to pick on me but I was always a fighter and didn’t take nothing from nobody, no matter what age! My mother can attest to that. Being that she was a single mother, my lion-hearted way about going through life/conflict began to weigh on her. That’s when she sent me to Atlanta to live with my father, hoping he could speak some sense into me and slow me down before I went down a path of destruction. Life began to become a rollercoaster as we struggled financially and began sleeping from couch to couch. This struggle and uncertainty affected me and my father in various ways. I started getting in more trouble at school and around the neighborhood and he began to take his frustrations with life and parenthood out on me. The combination of dealing with child abuse, anxiety, being the underdog, reminded me that no matter what life is throwing at me I would have to stand up for myself, fight for my position, and never let life’s pastures get in the way of my goals. My resilience has carried me through life and made people believe that I’m the “strong friend” that is affected by nothing. Which is a little unsettling, knowing that your friends/relatives think you don’t go through anything or don’t need anything because you hold it well and have a level of resilience that they admire, but I take it as a compliment.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My focus right now is creating the best music I’ve ever made. I’m reaching new levels creatively, collaborating more, and expanding my network. I’m building a fanbase that respects my music and life story and that’s always been most important for me.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My resilience has been my strongest asset in this music industry. It’s a cutthroat, dog eat dog industry. My confidence and willingness to learn new things have also been big assets for me. Without these 3 things, me or any other successful person, wouldn’t be where they are right now.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
No book has taught me as much as life’s experiences has. The older I get the more i realize the 2 best teachers of life are experience and repetition.
