Meet Blythe Vermilion

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Blythe Vermilion . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Blythe below.

Hi Blythe , so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?
I’ve come to realize most people that Nay say or hate on others are usually triggered by their own short comings, Because usually, someone else’s successes will reflect to the hater what they, themselves aren’t accomplishing in their own life. If people spent that same energy on improving themselves instead of counting other’s blessings, they would have no time to try to shoot someone else down. They would be fully engulfed, in their own journey. You never see someone doing better than you trying to bring you down! Most successful people surround themselves with other successful people. They are looking to build and make connections! While haters seek to destroy. My motto is to never listen to anyone who has less to lose than myself; that means, integrity wise, financially, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. People will only meet you as far as they have met themselves. It’s not my job to get them to vibrate on my frequency. So you really have to remember NOT to personalize someone’s projection.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a San Diego-based singer songwriter. I have multiple music videos out and multiple new projects coming. I will be performing live shows at Renaissance Festival this coming year. And looking forward to a seven city tour with another amazing artist named Baldacci the Beast. He and I will be releasing a music video within the next few weeks called “insane”. I’m really looking forward to this one because it’s going to really showcase both him and I as individuals and bring two different worlds together ! Also, I just released an incredible music video with the help of Icon industries( production company) co directed by Jamie Farthing, which features her amazing renaissance guild who participates yearly in live action, role-play! called “the wilds”. The video is called “Wings to wax”. It’s a video that I’m most proud of to date. The video can be found on YouTube, and the song can be found on all musical platforms, including Spotify, Pandora, and iTunes. I feel really blessed and honored to be able to showcase so many talented people by being simply the soundtrack to their art and their passions.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think the first quality that I had to learn iwas to “let go”. I had to learn to let go of my comfort zone and let go of people, places or situations that might’ve been holding me back, potentially hindering my growth. When you’re in the middle of the storm, you don’t realize that things are holding you back, but in hindsight, when you’re finally brave enough to make the move, you have a sense of clarity and you realize that the more you make moves like that, faster you will grow. That goes into the second part of learning to set severe boundaries. Boundaries for yourself and boundaries for others! And if those boundaries are crossed, you have to walk away. Finally,I’d say always prioritize your mental health! With our your mental health you have nothing.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I take a step back. I go into hermit mode for a little while, and I go within . I make a list of things and try to prioritize them. Then execute them in that order.. If I’m not comfortable with something, I just won’t do it. I’ve learned to exercise the power of the word “no”.
