We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bobbie Menneg. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bobbie below.
Bobbie, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I am a 12-year Triple Negative Breast Cancer survivor, I was very fortunate to have a great medical team, insurance, job that was understanding and an excellent support team. After I completed my treatments, I volunteered at the infusion center and other large cancer organizations, I noticed many cancer patients were lacking some of the very resources that I had available to me.
It was at this point I knew what my purpose was, to assist those newly diagnosed cancer patients with finding help financially, physically, emotionally and to teach them to be their own advocate.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I founded my own nonprofit called “Beyond the Ribbon” along with other survivors and caregivers in 2017, I saw the great need that is in our community and the limited resources that are available and what they will pay for. As someone that has gone through knows there is more than rent and utilities. We are flexible and work with each case to figure out what works best for them.
In offering financial assistance you need money! We have several events coming up for the holidays to raise funds to help our families. We will be hosting a car show, golf tournament, 5K and will be adopting families for the holidays.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Learning to be your own advocate, listen to your body, don’t try and do it all but most importantly live your life to the fullest everyday!
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
We are always looking for sponsors for our events, any companies that want to donate back to school supplies and for the holidays if they would like to adopt cancer families just reach out to us!
