Meet Bobby Barnwell

We were lucky to catch up with Bobby Barnwell recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Bobby, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

Everyone has a story and faces their own challenges in life. Growing up in a toxic environment, for lack of better words, gave me pretty thick skin. I learned early on that my attitude and efforts in life were the only way to break that cycle. I sometimes perform my best under pressure because of it.

Now, I’m a father who strives to show my kids that regardless of where you come from, you can achieve anything you set your mind to with hardwork, consistency, and the willingness to learn and grow.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I started out playing drums from a pretty young age. I was asked to be the vocalist for a band at one point after graduating high school in 2009, so I taught myself how to play guitar to make writing songs a little easier.

Skip forward to 2019, which is when I finally took the plunge professionally into the industry. I released a couple songs with my band Finding Father Time right as Covid shut down the world. The first single did well with the help of the right people helping push it (Jesea Lee from Octane, and Chris Bianchi from CB Entertainment and Legend Recordings reacted to it in a live stream). However, we split as a band due to different goals.

From there, I was asked to help with a start up management company as a Talent Acquisition Manager. It just made sense for me to take the dive into the business side of things. I love seeing other people’s success, and definitely love being part of that journey to make it more efficient. Later, internal issues started with the founder of that company after I initiated partnerships with ONErpm for distro and with other notable people in the industry.

Chris Bianchi, who had become a friend at this point, knew I had a ton going on in life and asked me to help him with CB and Legend Recordings if it made sense to make the jump. I sat on the question for a month or so, too long if you ask me, but ultimately decided to exit from the company I was in to partner with Chris and join the team. I have been with CB since then as an Artist Manager and Stage Manager for festivals. I still do vocal features and co-write with artists on occasion as well.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Integrity is huge in this industry. There are so many snakes in the grass in the world today. It is very important to stay honest and transparent.

Consistency is key. Never give up. Falling isn’t failing unless you choose to not get back up again. This road isn’t always easy; but it’s worth it!

Passion. Music was my first real love that was there mo matter what. I feel that it is important to be passionate about what you do, and it will show in your results, as well as the relationships you build along the way.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I am currently looking to expand the CB Entertainment roster with another 1-2 bands for management and/or development.

I am also always willing to do vocal features for upcoming artists for anyone needing clean or harsh vocals. Maybe even join a remote internet project full time if it makes sense.

If either of these are something you are interested in, I’m your guy.
