Meet Bobby Del Rio

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bobby Del Rio a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Bobby, appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?

I would say that the roots of my self-discipline are the gym. 🏋🏻‍♂️

I was in Los Angeles every single day of the strikes in 2023. It was obviously a deeply challenging time, but the gym refined my approach.

Even though we were not allowed to work, I promised myself I would continue to find ways to be productive.

I ended up getting around 250 meetings/events by simply being focused & persistent.

The gym made me feel like I could not be stopped from achieving my goals. I haven’t missed a single workout in a decade. It’s the foundation of my mentality.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I just finished hosting/writing 90 episodes of television. 🎥

I still have 14 episodes to air (weekly show), then I will be announcing a new tv series in the fall.

I’m blessed to have work during such a precarious time in our business.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Discipline, work ethic & persistence.

While the gym is the foundation of my mindset, I think committing to any sort of challenging routine can help adopt these attributes.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

I think it’s important to remain calm when things are challenging.

At age 47, I rely on my intuition to guide me. 🧘🏻‍♂️

Our instincts know things our brain doesn’t.

I would say that I feel my way through life, rather than plan.

When I trust my gut, I succeed wildly – in ANY set of circumstances.

Our bodies know things our brains cannot articulate. It’s important to listen…
