Meet Bobby G

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bobby G a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Bobby, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I feel likeI did not find my purpose rather my purpose found me. I have been a cannabis advocate for 20 years, and a cannabis cultivator for over 15. I have seen the plant help so many people in so many ways. In the early 2000’s cannabis was still strongly frowned upon. I was using it daily to increase appetite and lower my anxiety from a very troubled family. I was always involved in cannabis from a very young age, however as soon as I was old enough to get a “real” job, I always had a full-time job. My cannabis enthusiasm was always put on the back burner while I focused on what I was taught the most important things in life were, school, family and a solid career. I was always looking for a solid career path in the workforce.

In 2013 a close friend of mine was diagnosed with stage four brain cancer. He was given a short amount of time to live. By taking a special cannabis oil called Rick Simpson Oil (RSO), and having a clean diet, he was able to beat the cancer. His younger brother grew the plants and made the oil. I watched this happen with my own eyes and my friend is still cancer free healthier than ever.

Due to more legalization which lead universities to start doing actual research, legal cannabis jobs were finally a reality! It then occurred to me around 2015 that I could make cannabis my solid career! That is when I quit my “real” job and headed off to California to manage commercial cannabis operations full-time.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Kefi Kanna is a farm to table cannabis provider. If we do not make the products ourselves we work directly with the people that do, this allows us to keep an eye on quality from the very beginning until the very end when products are handed over to the end user. We currently have one retail location in Rutherfordton North Carolina with a huge assortment of cannabis products from flower and concentrates, to edibles and sublingual, to topicals and more.

We just launched our newest product, a 100% pure live resin disposable vape, which is a collaboration from our buddies out in Humboldt California. There is nothing changed added or manipulated for this pure heavy hitting vape!

We are now having events every two weeks, today we are having a cannabis 101 course, the next course we will have will be about how athletes use cannabis in their daily life.

We just launched our website which we are very excited about www.kefikanna.com

And our team has grown from one employee to eight employees since we talked to you last year!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back I think the top three quality are skills that has led me down this journey would be; discipline consistency and passion. There have been many many days that I did not want to show up and did anyways. These were the days the best work got done and the most creative ideas came to fruition and the biggest gaps bridged.

I stayed consistent in my work day after day month after month year after year. No matter how I felt or what resources I did not have. No matter what obstacle was thrown in front of me I will always pivot and figure out a way to make it work.

On those harder days to get out of bed, one of a few things that helps get after it, is my passion for spreading awareness to as many people as possible about the cannabis plant and providing access to clean safe health alternatives. When I watch something I created help people day after day, and they come back to give their testimonials, this is the passion thats created that will never let me stop doing what I do, not matter how I may be feeling.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

This may sound absolutely ridiculous and readers can take it as they will however I feel that I have been the most helpful person in overcoming all of these challenges in my life so far to be successful. I came from a troubled family, I have had horrible luck with business partners, I have been taken advantage of by almost everybody I’ve done business with, cheated on in many relationships. I’m a nice guy and unfortunately nice people are targets for predators. This would be enough to knock most people down and force them to give up in life. For me, I used my struggle as fuel for my fire to success.

At the end of the day only we can help ourselves, only we can free our mind, and only we can take charge of our life in the direction we want it to go. I feel this is an important message for readers, you are your own answer, and you can create a life full of Kefi!
