Meet Bobby Laughlin

We recently connected with Bobby Laughlin and have shared our conversation below.

Bobby, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

Life took me through a twisted journey of pain and suffering, and eventually, I hit rock bottom. One night, I realized what my life had become, and I collapsed to the floor and was in absolute despair. It felt like gravity had increased a thousandfold, crushing me beneath the weight of my own existence. I thought about ending my life because I couldn’t see a way out. I thrashed my house in anger, so upset, so frustrated, full of rage, and loneliness. I was sick of being unloved.

Desperate for air, I left my house for a walk. When I returned, a Bible a friend had given me was sitting on my table, almost as if it were mocking me. In my frustration, I threw it against the wall. But as it hit the floor, it stayed open. I felt like the universe was playing a cruel joke on me. I decided, “If there’s nothing of value in these two pages, then I am done.”

Then I read the words:
“Hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed. Perplexed yet not in despair. Persecuted yet not forsaken. Struck down yet not destroyed.”
In that moment, something shifted inside me. I wasn’t religious, but those words made me realize my life had meaning—even if I hadn’t found it yet. That night, I made a decision. I was going to live. I joined the Navy and massively improved my life, but something was still missing.

Discipline, structure, and growth became part of me. But something was still missing. I had no idea what my true purpose was. For years, I searched. I read countless books and explored different paths, but nothing felt right. I still felt lost. A year after I left the Navy, I bought a wooden flute on a whim. When I made my first melody, I burst into tears. For the first time in my life, I felt it. This was it. Music was my purpose. I didn’t have it all figured out yet, but I knew one thing: my life’s meaning was tied to music, creativity, and self-expression. I decided to go to school to learn how to produce music, which unlocked my creativity and freed my expression. I spent years practicing how to use music as a tool to transmit a special type of love energy directly from my heart to the listener’s heart. Pursuing my passion for music unlocked the rest of the mystery of my purpose, but music alone wasn’t enough. I wanted to create a space where others could find their purpose too.

My goal is to help people bring their creative expressions to the light so that they may actualize their dreams. To give them the stage that they might not otherwise have. I created the New Wave Festival: Music, Art & Mystics to help creative people actualize the dream inside their hearts, and it is in direct alignment with my purpose in life. The New Wave is more than just a festival—it’s a portal of transformation. It’s a place where music, art, and mysticism converge to create an experience that elevates the soul.

To find your purpose, you must follow your passions and the love in your heart. Walk down the dark road, even if it’s scary. Do the things you know you have to do to reach the next level. Do not lie to yourself, or others. Distance from your ego, and pride. Avoid negative actions, words, and emotions, and focus on building yourself into an endless fountain of love.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a professional DJ, music producer, and festival curator with a passion for crafting special, memorable experiences. I am known for my creative mixing style and ability to engage the crowd and connect deeply with them. I make my living curating and performing at private parties, weddings, casinos, clubs, and festivals. I have such a deep gratitude for all the special moments I get to be a part of. It’s so beautiful seeing all the smiling faces dancing to their favorite songs!

I am currently on a mission to provide as many opportunities as possible to as many creative and gifted people as I can. This is why I created the New Wave Festival: Music, Art & Mystics to create new opportunities for people of all kinds to shine and express their creativity.

New Wave is more than a festival—it’s a creative movement. We provide a platform for artists, vendors, and performers to showcase their talents in a safe, family-friendly space that embraces love, music, art, spirituality, and self-expression. Our goal is to provide an atmosphere where people can explore various styles of unique music, art, spirituality, and expression but feel safe and accepted for who they are. It’s hard out here being an artist, and we aim to help them grow and unleash their beautiful creations.

Think about how great it feels to finally have the opportunity you always dreamed of. Think about that special moment of success when you can scream’ I DID IT!!!!” Life is short, and I want to help as many people as possible find their way out here and realize their special dream.

We are looking for the right sponsors to join us in helping the dreams of so many come true! We aim to have a location where we can host art and music events all year round.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three most important areas of knowledge I have are knowing how to read people and understand them. The transmutation of negative energy into positive energy. Navigate life you are the main character in a video game.

In the world we live in almost everything involves people. Knowing how to read people is one of the most valuable skills you can have. Every human being on earth has a mixed ratio of integrity, honesty, authenticity, love, hate, greed, pride, ego, lies, truths, and many other traits. I understand how to read people so well that it’s almost like I can read their minds. Humans communicate in many ways beyond words. Learning to interpret these unspoken signals unlocks new levels of social awareness and connection.

Experiencing an emotion or feeling is involuntary, but holding on to it or letting it go is entirely up to us. Throughout my meditations, I have discovered how to transmute my negative energy into positive energy. One major aspect of achieving this is not taking a personal position in a negative situation. For example, instead of feeling like “Someone hit my car. Why did this happen to me?” it would be more like “Someone hit my car, which is an unfortunate part of the randomness of life. Sometimes things like that happen.” By shifting your perspective, you reclaim your emotional energy. Instead of being consumed by frustration, you can focus on solutions and growth.

Life is like a game. Here you are the main avatar of your story. You have a set of natural abilities, advantages, and disadvantages. In this game of life, every skill is upgradable. Whether it’s confidence, creativity, or resilience, the more you practice, the stronger you become. Anything you spend enough time doing, you get better at. If you remember that you have limited time, you won’t waste time on things that don’t benefit your character. If you remember that you have complete control over your avatar, then you can go anywhere in the world and achieve your wildest dreams.

Mastering these three skills—reading people, transmuting energy, and leveling up—gives you a unique advantage in navigating life. The question is: What will you choose to upgrade next?

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I have met some absolutely amazing people in my life, but I have also encountered those who are dishonest, manipulative, and driven by ego. In my position, I often meet people who seem kind and genuine at first but reveal their true nature when they don’t get what they want. This has made me more cautious about who I align with. I seek to be valued for WHO I am, not just WHAT I can offer.

I use my heart, creativity, music, and spiritual understanding to navigate through the world.

My energy is like a beacon that attracts people whose hearts overflow with love—sensitive people who desire to bring beautiful things to the world. People who are looking to better themselves, and help those around them.

I seek kind, genuine individuals to help grow the New Wave Festival: Music, Art & Mystics. Our mission is to serve the creative world with unconditional love and endless opportunities. To maintain the festival’s integrity, I will only partner with benevolent organizations that align with this vision.

My mission is clear: to create a space where artists, dreamers, and visionaries can thrive. Through New Wave Festival, I want to offer more than just entertainment—I want to build a movement. A place where music, art, and mysticism converge to help people unlock their purpose. This journey isn’t just mine—it belongs to everyone who is searching for something more. If you’re aligned with this vision, let’s build something extraordinary together.
