Meet Bobby Mcmorris

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bobby Mcmorris a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Bobby, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

After working different types of jobs in Corporate American, delving into different business ventures, I discovered my true passion in 2001 while visiting LA and attending my first theatrical play. That’s when the theatre bug hit me and I knew then that I wanted to be a catalyst of change. I wanted to make the world a better place through the power of my pen.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

San Antonio’s dramatist who’s work focuses on contemporary urban drama underpinned with humor and moral values. Writer, Director and Producer of (23) stage plays. My plots are centered around love, family, and money. My mission is set on delivering faith based messages that will provoke change and prevent disaster in which solid reputation has been gained in the community.

My current production, “Divorce Saved My Marriage”, is revered as the magnum opus and currently touring. The goal is to perform in as many major cities as possible to include creating a series.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I believe some great qualities to have as a writer include:
* A passion for writing – you can’t write well if you don’t like doing it
* Imagination – have to be able to think outside the box in creativity
* Always seek to improve – there’s no great writers but great rewriters

My advice is writing, great storytelling doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time and a good effort practing as often as possible, hopefully daily.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

The current challenge is expanding our brand outside of our normal community. It takes a lot of financing traveling a full production to different cities/states. I do believe with time and persistence other communities will valve our productons.
