Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Bobby Trendz . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Bobby, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
Since childhood, I’ve embraced the responsibility of nurturing my creativity and fostering an environment conducive to personal growth. The invaluable guidance of mentors from diverse backgrounds has equipped me with practices and disciplines aimed at carving out dedicated time and space for my creative endeavors. I engage in prayer and meditation to center myself, delve into in-depth studies and research to expand my horizons, leverage social media for inspiration, and grant myself the freedom to envision new possibilities within the existing framework.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
In the midst of the global pandemic in 2021, I founded my very own creative agency, The BT Collective. Despite the challenges we all faced, I saw an opportunity to support and uplift other creatives in the industry. By organizing virtual cyphers, I was able to bring together more than 50 creative entrepreneurs, and I also hosted industry professionals to share their valuable insights on a wide range of topics. As a result of these sessions, I had the chance to engage in one-on-one meetings with many attendees, where we brainstormed and refined their business concepts. It was during these personal interactions that I found my unique niche and took the bold steps to establish my own brand and business.
From that point forward, my exceptional team and I have collaborated with numerous entrepreneurs, businesses, startups, and corporations, working together to breathe new life into their brands. As a collective, we are pioneering the transformation of creative direction and marketing strategies, and we continue to make a significant impact in the industry.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
As I reflect on my journey, I realize that my success can be attributed to three key factors: discipline, imagination, and faith. I understood the importance of separating myself from inevitable distractions and investing time to achieve my desired progress. My imagination allowed me to envision beyond my initial thoughts and feelings. Lastly, my faith in God’s infinite ability gave me the confidence that all my dreams could become a reality.
I advise committing wholeheartedly to your craft for those just beginning their journey. Dedicate the necessary time, energy, and space to propel yourself forward.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
Over the past year, I have experienced tremendous personal and professional growth. In 2023, I was primarily managing my business alone, but not entirely by myself, as my close friend Ron David and I operated as both silent business partners and accountability partners. This was an inside joke between us, but it held true. I was handling a large number of clients and juggling numerous tasks single-handedly. However, this year, I assembled an entire team, each member of which has significantly and positively contributed to our collective efforts. There are moments when I reflect and wonder how I managed everything alone. Establishing a team has expanded our possibilities, and we have even launched my popular conversation series “ART OF DESIGN” in collaboration with Soho House, which has now extended to New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. This is an exhilarating time for The BT Collective, and I am thankful to have a dynamic team to share this experience.
