We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bombshell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Bombshell, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

We’ve built our team’s confidence and self-esteem through our Bridal Expert Apprenticeship. Every bridal expert goes through this program, which includes working on models for both hair and makeup to practice and refine their skills. They are required to meet specific criteria and milestones along the way, ensuring steady growth in both skill and professionalism. We also bring in professional educators to teach advanced classes to our group, giving them fresh techniques and inspiration. This combination of hands-on experience, mentorship, and ongoing education empowers our team to feel fully prepared and confident in their skills.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Bombshell Salon and Spa’s bridal team is one of the leading providers of bridal hair and makeup services in West Michigan. What makes our work so exciting is the opportunity to connect with so many brides and be part of one of the most important days of their lives. We love creating looks that not only enhance natural beauty but also make each bride feel confident, radiant, and completely herself. Our brand is built on professionalism, skill, and a genuine passion for helping women feel their absolute best. Being trusted to share in such special moments is truly what makes what we do so meaningful.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Teamwork has always been at the heart of Bombshell Salon and Spa. We put the team first, which allows us to support each other, grow together, and ultimately give our brides the best possible experience. Unreasonable hospitality is another guiding principle. To us, it means finding ways to surprise and delight our brides; whether that’s by anticipating their needs before they ask, taking care of the small details they didn’t think of, or simply going the extra mile to make them feel special and cared for. It’s about creating moments they’ll remember long after their wedding day, and those touches are what set us apart.

Organization has also played a huge role in our success. We have a dedicated bridal coordinator whose focus is ensuring every wedding runs seamlessly. From creating appointments and timelines to confirming every detail and serving as the main point of contact for the bride, bridal party, and stylists, our coordinator ensures everyone is informed and prepared before the wedding day. This level of organization not only gives our team a clear plan to follow but also allows our brides to relax and enjoy their day!

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

Our biggest area of growth in the past 12 months has been the expansion and upgrades we’ve made to our space and services. We doubled the size of our salon, which allowed us to add the Luxe Lounge. Our private event space is perfect for birthdays, company, bachelorette parties, and bridal groups. One of the most exciting changes has been creating a dedicated area specifically for bridal hair and makeup. This space now features brand-new makeup stations with professional lighting, comfortable seating, and plenty of room for our team to work while keeping the bridal party together. It was designed to give brides a calm, beautiful environment to get ready in, while also ensuring our artists have everything they need to deliver flawless results.
We also elevated our spa experience, adding new amenities including a luxurious sauna to promote total relaxation and wellness. This addition allows our guests to not only enjoy beauty services but also indulge in restorative self-care. Paired with our expanded drink options and the opening of our boutique, Bombshell has grown into a full beauty and lifestyle destination where clients can look and feel their best from the inside out.
