Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Bonita with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I get my work ethic from my parents, who both demonstrated dedication and resilience. My dad worked long and odd hours for METRO, to provide for our family. This dedication showed me the importance of hard work. On the other hand, my mom worked for the government while also attending college part-time. She managed to balance her career and education, showing me that determination could lead to personal and professional growth. Together, their examples instilled in me a strong sense of responsibility and the drive to succeed.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My brand is a personal project created to honor my father’s legacy. He inspired and supported me, always encouraging me to follow my passions. To pay tribute to him, I chose a brand name that reflects his spirit and values. My brand celebrates his life and carries forward the lessons and love he shared with me, creating a connection with each of you.
My father’s legacy is an integral part of my business, and I aim to make every interaction meaningful. As a balloon artist, I am not just making art; I am preserving a cherished memory. Each balloon I twist honors my father, and each smile I see shows the joy he brought into my life. Through my work, I want to spread happiness and create lasting memories for everyone I meet.
My company has recently started offering helium balloons and related services! We’re excited to expand our product line and bring even more joy to your celebrations. Whether you’re planning a birthday party, or a special event, our helium balloons will add a festive touch. We take pride in providing high-quality balloons and excellent service, I’ve been thrilled to see how these new services resonate with clients, elevating their events in ways they hadn’t imagined.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Every day presents a new opportunity to learn, grow, and create memories. I am grateful to be able to share my passion for balloon artistry while honoring my father’s memory through my creations. As a novice balloon artist, four qualities have proven to be important: creativity, continued learning, attention to detail, and exceptional customer service.
Balloon artistry is about transforming a client’s vision into reality. To inspire creativity, I encourage experimenting with different designs and techniques. Participating in workshops, following online tutorials, and exploring different styles can be beneficial. It’s important to take your time and focus on each detail in your work. Focus on what works for you, what doesn’t, and how you can better your skills.
Taking pictures of your creations can provide insights into areas for improvement that you may not notice immediately. Connecting with clients is important, as each creation is often tied to significant memories. To better my customer service skills, I build a rapport with clients to bring their vision to life which often leads to repeat business and referrals. For those starting out, my advice to embrace the learning process, connect with fellow artists, participate in community events, and showcase your work to gain exposure. Balloon artistry takes practice, patience, and persistence.
