Meet Bonnie Lippincott

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bonnie Lippincott a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Bonnie, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

My friend Emily just asked me this today – and I answered in 2 parts.
1) I said, “I used to lead from the head, until I could not operate that way anymore. I felt overwhelmed, uninspired and dull. Then I decided to let my heart lead, and use my head to figure out logistics.”

Creativity seems to come alive when I make space for curiosity and let myself create from the heart without the pressure of perfection.

2) Also, honestly I keep my creativity alive by treating it like a muscle—using it daily. I feed it, like my husband feeds his sourdough starter.
Often, it’s playing make believe with my kids, or recording an intriguing podcast conversation on a new topic.

(It’s worth noting that I do rest often when I feel drained, that creativity flows through me and it’s key to step away when feeling stagnant.)

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m an author, podcast host, and a advocate for mothers and babies.

My goal is to help mom’s feel less alone in the messy seasons of life, and to uplift through honesty and vulnerability. I’ve found ways personally to notice and experience the magic of life, and I aim to share how I do that.

Through my Entry Level Mom podcast, I get to have honest conversations about everything from motherhood to career pivots, which feels like sitting down with a friend who just gets it.

I also write stories that weave resilience, creativity, and self-love into adventures kids (and parents!) can read together.

Right now, I’m celebrating over 100 podcast episodes and working on my next book, “This Magic Life,” while also building new ways to expand the Entry Level Mom brand so even more moms feel supported and inspired.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, three things really carried me through my journey: curiosity, grit, and connection.

1) Curiosity kept me asking questions and exploring new ideas, even when I wasn’t sure where they would lead. It kept me open, and brave by being on the pursuit of knowledge and truth.

2) Grit helped me get back up after the inevitable mistakes or failures. Grit kept me going. I kept telling myself to remember the only failure is the failure to try!

3) Finally, connection—building relationships, listening to people’s stories, and being reminded that everyone’s voice matters has made this journey one with heart. Please don’t forget to ask for help along the way, we were never meant to do this alone.

At the heart of it all, my mission is simple: to remind everyone that they’re stronger, braver, and more creative than they think!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes! I love collaborating—especially with brands, creators, and organizations that support moms, babies, families, or advocating for policy change.

If you’re reading this and thinking, “We should team up,” I’d love to hear from you! You can connect with me through my website booksbybonnielippincott.com or DM me on Instagram @bonnie_lippincott.
