Meet Brad Dietrich

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brad Dietrich. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Brad , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

That is a heavy question! Resilience is not easy. I’ve had my share of of experience with it to know that sometimes it is easier said to be “resilient” than actually done. My resilience comes from a combination of things. A good community and circle of support is helpful. Surround yourself with people you want to be around, if someone gives you bad vibes, kindly move on. No need to explain yourself, just find someone or something somewhere else. But, it definitely takes a LOT of rejection and hurt to be resilient. You can’t just be born “resilient,” you need to practice and experience it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I grew up the only child in a small town West of Toronto. Ever since I was in my early adolescence I felt very out of place, kind of like an outcast that really didn’t fit in with the culture and the opinions of the majority of the people. It wasn’t until I began dancing, acting and pushing myself out of my comfort zone where I was able to find my people- in the studio. From then on began my passion for performing and story-telling. I am now a professional actor, director and producer residing in the GTA representing the LGBTQ+ community. I greatly value stories and projects with a theme of acceptance and love as those are the themes I want to show the world through the art of performance. The world is a dark place, especially right now, and we all need more love, creativity and freedom to express ourselves however we want to.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I would say looking back at my journey in the entertainment industry and creating positively driven content for a like-minded audience, the three things that were most impactful are connection, dedication, and drive. Without these 3 things, you can for sure get work, but you won’t be fully bookable or versatile enough to advance successfully in the industry. Connecting to other artists, creators and performers can be increasingly helpful, as you never really know who someone knows. Knowing people to get roles still exists, and people only really want to work with people that they can confirm are A. easy to work with and B. can deliver what is being asked by the director or writer. Dedication and drive come hand in hand. Both are needed to keep you inspired and going. It’s also important to have fun, and if that isn’t possible, then your performance will certainly be affected and someday your mental health and resilience. The advice I give to others to best develop their craft is to stay having fun, but also prioritize your health and wellness along the way.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I absolutely am! My niche is LGBTQ+ positive-driven content, so anything that offers that ability would be greatly appreciated and valued. The LGBTQ+ community is at a fall at the moment due to the stance of the world and politics, and anything I can do to lift up the community, I would love. Feel free to reach out if you feel our values align!
