We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brandi Slovinsky a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Brandi , so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
I’ve always been very transparent and open when it comes to my art. I’m a self taught artist. I been doing art my whole life.. . But in 2020 my art came to a stop, along with my body, When I was diagnosed with Relapsing-Remitting MS (RRMS)…So past few years I have learned to adapt and adjust how I paint and use other avenues of creating like graphic design.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
In my spare time I enjoy painting and I have been working on a few designs and art to help bring awareness to multiple sclerosis and creating designs and labels for PunxCider Worx. You can find my work on red bubble CrookedbyMS.redbubble.com
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three qualities that I feel have help shaped me into the artist I am today.
1.Openness to Experience creativity, art comes in many forms.
2. Passion is the driving force that keeps your creativity fire lite.
3. Expression. Art is pure creative expression that says something about you, always be true to yourself and your craft.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My husband will forever be this person,
He has been my biggest inspiration, my editor, my co-creator, my muse.
He brings the best out of me, constantly encouraging me to continue to do art.By helping me adapt to painting with my MS by buying Custom-made brushes, To purchasing an iPad to help me create design when I wasn’t able to paint. This is man is my rock.
