Meet Brandi Swanson

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brandi Swanson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brandi below.

Hi Brandi, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
As a professional Wedding Planner, it is imperative that I have optimism. Brides and Grooms need their Team Leader to have confidence about their wedding day. They need someone whose number one goal is to view and produce a successful event. When I first started my career in the wedding industry, my optimism came from my passion to be a part of someone’s love story. I always viewed it as an honor and privilege to help couples celebrate the most beautiful thing to exist: true love. My cause, love and passion fueled my determination to create beautiful and stress-free weddings for my clients. And while I believe that to still be true today, I also have ample experience to fuel that optimism and confidence.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am the Lead Wedding Planner and Designer at Next Chapter Weddings. My company serves the Greater Houston area and beyond! We offer Full and Partial Wedding Planning, as well as, Design, Coordination, Décor and Event Staffing. I am incredibly passionate about my career. I feel so blessed to be able to do what I do. My husband often teases me when I say, “I get to go to work today!” I am passionate about designing beautiful weddings and alleviating stress and concerns that come to my Clients. I feel like I have a “from ashes to beauty” story, and my desire to be surrounded by so much love comes from personal trauma. But now that I have experienced healing, I am in this beautiful place that is so full of life that there is no where to go but up! I am ready to help make wedding day dreams come true!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Resourceful
2. Positive
3. Organized

My answers may be cliché here, but true nevertheless. I feel like one of the biggest skills need to be a successful Wedding Planner is to be resourceful. We have to be quick on our feet and find solutions to all sorts of problems. No one wants to hire a grumpy Wedding Planner, and when you are in charge of so much information for various people, being organized and having a clear system is vital.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
I have been an entrepreneur my entire adult life. I start my first business at 18 immediately after graduating high school. I opened a success dance studio that I operated for 7 years. As a 31 year old with a lot more life experience, I think back at the younger version of myself that had full confidence in her dream and was nothing but successful. As I try to figure out where those skills and confidence came from, I have no doubts that it was 100% a result of the absolute best parenting a child could ever receive. I have already accomplished so much in my life, and I am eternally grateful for having the most amazing and supportive parents in the world.
