Meet Brandice Webb-Pondexter

We recently connected with Brandice Webb-Pondexter and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandice , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
In all honesty my strong work ethic comes from my upbringing as a child . My parents instilled in me early on that laziness will get you nowhere in life . I remember being 5 years old and being responsible for making my bed every day, getting dressed, cleaning my room before I could play. Handle your business first before play. I have carried that same mentality into my how I run my own businesses. The work has to get done regardless. So instead of putting it off and letting more tasks build up , you just have to get it done! It’s less stressful and it allows you to be more productive .

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Currently I am in the process of transitioning my spa into a Skincare Clinic/ Med Spa . I want to focus more on correcting common conditions of the skin and move away from the traditional facials . My passion is to educate my clients on the importance of skin health and wellness and this current transition will reflect this. I will also be adding on some more beautification type services that can enhance a clients appearance instantly .

It did take me some time to really figure out my place on the beauty industry and what I would like to be known for . But I am so thankful that I have finally figured it out and can now navigate in my true purpose .

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back I think having the ability to problem solve and research is and will always be impactful on my journey as a business owner. If you are not willing to figure things or pick up a book and learn new skills the road to entrepreneurship will be extremely difficult. I also believe that having a mentor that aligns with your goals and values is the key to success. Having a mentor allows you to learn from someone that has already done it and build off of what worked for them.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When I feel overwhelmed I just take a step back and rest. And I really had to learn and start implementing this last year. I would have the classic entrepreneur attitude which is “I’ll sleep when I’m dead.” And that attitude almost killed me . With the help of my therapist I now have necessary tools in place to recognize when I need to rest and to not feel guilty for needing a break.

I also make lists of all of the tasks I need to complete and then break them down into smaller more manageable items and then schedule those task so that I can things down without feeling stuck looking at the big picture
