Meet Brandon Carpio

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brandon Carpio. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Brandon, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I can narrow it down into three ingredients that helped me find my purpose, and that is essence, passion and pain.
First ingredient: Essence. When I was five years old my mother asked me, “what do you want to be when you grow up?” And I said “I want to be me”, and some might say why listen to a 5 year old? But, til this day I remind myself of this wisdom and truth that I shared that day. This is always the driving force when I connect with my purpose. Who am I? Ever since I was a little boy I have been dancing wherever I go, in the streets, grocery stores, on the baseball field when I was in little league… everywhere. So, naturally my purpose involves dancing and sharing this joy with others via my art, through teaching and/ or coaching.
Second ingredient: Passion. In college while pursuing my passion as a dancer and working towards my BFA in Dance at USC in Los Angeles, I also picked up two other deep passions of mine: acting and personal-development. I joined acting classes on campus as well as a 2-year acting program at the Baron Brown acting studio. I also picked up my first self development book from Joe Dispenza (“Breaking the habit of being yourself”) and from this moment on I was continuously reading self-development books and taking courses to work on my mind set and character. All three of these passions (dancing, acting and personal development) all went hand in hand for me, what I learned in one area was applicable to the other.
Third ingredient: Pain. For me this was my own struggles of pursuing a career as a professional dancer, from body-image issues, to an eating disorder, and all the waves of emotions this artistic path comes with. I asked myself how can I help serve and help people who have shared these similar struggles and challenges? This was the missing question for me. How can I serve these people using my own unique passions? This is when I discovered the field of life coaching. It became the best way for me to weave in all of my passions. As a dancer I knew people could transform themselves by the way they move. As an actor and personal development enthusiast I had a deep understanding of humans, personal growth and how to create a more fulfilling life. So, I decided to get my coaching certification with the Jay Shetty certification school, and I am currently pursuing two other coaching certifications to add to my coaching business, to offer the deepest transformation possible to my clients.
So, three ingredients: Essence (who are you at your core?), Passion (What do you love to do?), and Pain (What did you learn from your greatest challenges?) these questions helped me figure out what I want to do, who I want to serve and why, which gave me my sense of purpose in my life.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am currently dancing professionally in Austria at the Opera of Graz, and teaching a class titled “Moving Through Moments” at a nearby dance studio called Tanzhaus every Monday at 7:30-9PM. This is where I teach and fuse together elements from actor training using the techniques of Rudolf Laban as well as different dance styles from contemporary dance and hip-hop dance practices.
Aside from this, I am currently building my life coaching business. I will add two more coaching certifications to my business by the fall of this year, which I believe will really create the deepest transformation possible for my clients. Jay Shetty Certification school really gave me a deep understanding and foundation of life coaching, and now I am training as a mind-body coach with the Embody Lab and as a Frequency Imprinting coach under the guidance of coach and business woman; Hayley Forbes.
The mind-body coaching certification will allow me to help my clients by connecting them deeply to their inner and outer body awareness to understand and pursue their souls calling. The Frequency Imprinting certification will allow me to really look at the root cause of my clients challenges and energetic blocks, and help them imprint a new frequency of energy that is aligned with who they truly want to be and embody.
At the moment I am focusing on sharing my story and creating content mostly via Instagram (follow my journey in the links below!) so I can connect more deeply with my audience and find those people who resonate with me and who are interested in embarking on a transformational journey together through embodied movement practices and life coaching.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three qualities that have helped me the most in my life: being unapologetic about who I am, being joyful and being a dreamer.
Choosing to be a professional ballet dancer at the age of 12, while growing up in Florida, is not the “normal” thing to do for most boys. While many of my peers didn’t understand why I chose ballet as my passion, I knew it was because it resonated deeply with my soul, I loved dancing. People didn’t understand me, but I believe being unapologetic about who I was, and what resonated with me as a human was the key to my resilience.
Joy is my driving force and emotion that I live by. I believe following my joy, and finding joy within the process of achieving my goals has helped me so much on my journey. When you live aligned with your souls calling, you automatically choose joy. This does not mean it will always be an easy ride through life… but learning to find joy within the proccess of finding yourself is key.
Lastly, being a dreamer is what constantly gives me direction and energy. To this day I still dream like a child. I envision a future where I can really do absolutely anything I put my mind to. It is really important to dream, because we live in a society that likes to put people in boxes and labels, but dreaming allows you to see beyond this, and helps you imagine a bigger picture for your life.
My advice for people early on in their journey is to ask yourself: If you took the fear of failure, criticism and rejection out of the vision that you have for your life… and you could have or do anything that you wanted, how would you live your life? What would you do? What would be important to you? What would you value? And, What kind of impact would you want to have on the world? Lastly, who is this courageous person within you who has the power to ask these questions? Connect to this person every day, this is your beautiful soul unraveling.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal clients are the artistic visionaries and dreamers. Whether you are an artist, creator, dancer, actor, or a hybrid mix of it all, I want to serve those who believe in a brighter future. and who want to impact the world by showing up as the best version of themselves. I want to serve those who are hungry to cultivate their highest potential and pursue their souls calling. I know what it is like to doubt your self, to fail hard, to feel that imposter syndrome, and to doubt your self-worth… these are all things we might struggle with on our paths that we choose, but I want to help those who truly want to rise above these challenges and soak up all that life has to offer them.
