Meet Brandon Harrison

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brandon Harrison. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Brandon, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

To be honest, I’ve always been a pretty confident person. When it comes to the content I put out, I was already very confident in the way I dressed outside of social media. Whether that be from people complimenting my outfits throughout the years or me just feeling really comfortable and confident about an outfit I put together. There are times when I step out of my comfort zone that could make me feel not so confident because I’d be worried about someone’s opinion on the outfit. But I always would tell myself that just because someone doesn’t like what you’re wearing or doesn’t understand it, who cares. As long as you feel confident, comfortable and love what you’re wearing that’s all that matters. And now I’m at a point to where I’m 100% confident in anything I wear. No matter what. Also, being a skateboarder I would say helps with my confidence. When it comes to doing tricks you need to be confident in yourself to do them so I feel that I put that towards creating my content as well.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m a content creator who focuses around fashion, sneakers and hats. When I first started out creating content it was mainly just to show outfits that I came up with around pieces that I really enjoyed wearing. Overtime I got more consistent with posting and started matching all of my outfits to backgrounds because I wasn’t really seeing any other creator doing that consistently and I wanted to stand out. Eventually companies started reaching out wanting to send me products to style. Which was amazing because I wasn’t expecting to be noticed by these brands, especially while having a much smaller following. Now I’m at a point to where I’ve had the opportunities to work with bigger companies like Lids, Fashion Nova and K-Swiss to name a few as well as be able to be paid for the work I put out. Which is a very rewarding feeling knowing that all the hard work I put into my content behind the scenes is paying off.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I’d say the three best things that were most impactful for me is staying consistent, having patience and being confident. Always stay consistent in whatever it is you’re passionate about. Overtime you will get better and better at any skill set that you focus on if you constantly work on it. Have patience because you never want to rush your dreams or goals. It could leave you feeling upset that you’re not where you want to be or where someone else already is at. Most of the time things don’t happen overnight. You have to work hard to reach your goals. And be confident in whatever it is you do because that only helps motivate you. Don’t worry about if someone else will judge you or not like what you put out. As long as you truly love it then that’s all that matters. I believe that if you do/have those three things you can reach any goal you set for yourself.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

Anytime I feel overwhelmed I always try to just sit back, relax and ease my mind. Take a break from what it is you’re doing and then go back to it after you feel more calm. Take a walk, drink some water, hang out with a friend, eat something good, go to the movies. Anything that can help keep you calm and get your mind off being overwhelmed. It’s important to take time for yourself and relax because if not you’re going to burn out. And also set a schedule for yourself for the things that make you feel overwhelmed and slowly knock them out one at a time until you don’t feel so overwhelmed anymore.
