We recently connected with Brandon & Jordan Melito and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brandon & Jordan, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
This is a loaded question. Where do I begin?
Resilience to me is the ability to stand tall regardless of the obstacles endured and/or ahead. It’s the capability to keep pushing forward, knowing that you will achieve whatever it is that you are fighting for.
But what is it that fuels this characteristic?
For me, there is quite a list.
From a young age, I watched my parents open and run their own business in France while trying desperately to make it to America to live the “American Dream”. Once here, I watched them both continue with their passion of running a restaurant despite the setbacks that came with being immigrants. Over the years, I have watched my parents struggle with identity theft, the threat of deportation, and various concerns arising from immigration, yet they never managed to slow down or give up, regardless of how much they may have felt the urge to. To me, my parents have been my rock, always ensuring that I have whatever I needed despite their sacrifices. I’ve learned so much from my parents over the 24 years I’ve been alive, and still to this day, they are teaching me how to embrace my inner strength that I never knew I had.
In addition to my parents, my wife is my mentor. She beams with resilience every day, reminding me that I am, and that I can continue to achieve things that I never thought were imaginable. She reminds me daily that I make a positive impact in not only her life but the lives of so many people. Likewise, she helps me to remember that we as humans are not perfect and that we do not have to be, but what separates me from others is that I learn from my decisions and build on them. I use my weaknesses as motivation and leverage to make myself and others better and stronger. My wife has helped me understand the importance of believing in yourself, but most importantly, learning to forgive yourself.
We, as humans, tend to be our own worst critics. We set the standard and expectations so high for ourselves that if/when we do not meet those expectations, we are disappointed and discouraged from continuing on. Pushing myself to keep going after things do not work out as planned or when life throws curveballs my way has not been easy, to say the least. But knowing that I CAN and that I WILL and having the support of my loved ones makes all the difference.
With resilience also comes balance.
The word resilient has an unmeasurable energy behind it, almost with the assumption that being resilient means you do not take breaks or let up. I’ve found that creating personal time away from the hectic demands of life is a great way to balance the pressure of not giving up. I’ve recently started gardening with my wife as it has become one of her own personal therapy techniques, and she has found it helps her with anxiety. Since starting, I have found that it gives me motivation and a sense of reassurance knowing that I am doing something right. I am creating life and nourishment through thoughtful care and love. Watching these plants start from such a small seed to develop into a beautiful flourishing plant/crop while they whether rain, immense heat, drought, and bugs that have a mega apatite has, in a sense, paid tribute to how truly remarkable the human race can be if willing.
I find that having someone/something that depends on you, that you love, and that is worth fighting for subconsciously pushes someone to do and be better. Whether that be a family member, a loved one, an animal, or even a plant, knowing that my words, actions, and decisions affect not only my life but the lives of those around me keeps me going endlessly. Love has a powerful way of changing a person for the better. I believe that every person deserves love that can do that for them because it has been a testament to my accomplishments throughout the years.
Believe in yourself. Forgive yourself. Find love. Create balance. Never give up.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
As it has been officially 1 year as of 04/05/24 since we opened our business, it is wild to be able to look back and see the progress that has been made. At the start of this journey, we had no idea what we were doing. We took everything one day at a time, knowing that if we had each other, we could get through anything.
I feel that our problem-solving skills really helped us get through some hard times. Relying on each other to balance out our own weaknesses allows us to learn and grow as individuals and as a team. Having two minds provides us with options that may not be obvious to us by ourselves at the time and has proven to be super effective.
During times when we are truly at a loss and not sure what to do, networking and using resources such as Google and family have been lifesavers. A lot of times, people are afraid to ask for help, but when you have the resources and support to do so, it’s silly not to.
A major belief that my wife and I have is manifestation. The human mind is such a powerful tool, and when we as humans take the time to learn how to unlock its unlimited potential that lies right on our shoulders, we end up seeing the world in a whole new light. To begin to manifest anything, you must know that what you want is already yours. Whatever it is that you are trying to achieve, you already have.
Think about something that you have been wanting for such a long time. It could be anything. A bump in income, a new car, for your husband to take you out on a nice date—whatever it is! Now close your eyes and put yourself in that moment. Imagine the people that are there with you, what your surroundings look like, the colors, the noises, and the sounds, and embrace the emotions that come along with that achievement. Let yourself detach from reality for those few minutes and get lost in the pure bliss of that moment. In addition, take steps every day that are going to lead you to the path that will have that goal at the end.
*Tip: Write your goals and positive affirmations on sticky notes or paper and put them in places you look every day (i.e., a water bottle, bathroom mirror, fridge, etc.).
As these other things may seem a bit more secure, safe, and maybe even reliable, what I’ve found is that taking risks and letting go of the worry that holds you back has provided us with an immense amount of knowledge and experience. It has provided us with so much growth and confidence that we are capable of figuring anything out. As stated before, we as humans love our comfort zones, but with that, we tend to hold ourselves back from growing. As a business owner, you have to constantly be open to new ideas and concepts, as the world and everything in it are constantly evolving. Your business relies on you to stay competitive and ahead of the curve when it comes to customer demand.
From our experience, taking risks has gotten us way further than we would have if we played it safe every time.
With this comes good judgment. Knowing the difference between an educated risk and a pure risk. Knowing that a risk could potentially pay off, as opposed to having no idea, is crucial to these types of decisions. None-the-less, playing it safe doesn’t always have the most rewarding payouts.
In the end, what really comes down to is your willingness to keep going. Your belief that you ARE making it and that even though you may not know the answers, you WILL find them.
Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
Being new business owners and officially opened for our first year, we are excited to have kept our heads just above water. Our goal was to start out with mobile services to build up to being able to have the overhead to afford a store-front repair shop. With that being said, we have currently been experiencing two major concerns. One being the price of gas has inflated quite a lot causing us to use up more finances in that area. We also are experiencing a type of drought that is keeping us on our toes by making us wonder if we will have enough work schedule to cover the cost of the business each month. We feel that being able to open a store-front repair shop would help with marketing as we have the possibility for thousands of people to be able to pass by our shop each day! This will also allow us to perform bigger job with bigger payouts more effectively and frequently. And lastly, it will help by giving customers a designated location to find us apart from via the phone or social media.
We plan to announce our ideas for expansion with our business/ services soon once we have everything finalized! In the mean time, we are going to keep building the path that is going to lead us to our vision.
