Meet Brandon Luther

We recently connected with Brandon Luther and have shared our conversation below.

Brandon, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

Through the compliments and support from my clients and my art collectors. Hearing how much they like my work really boosts my confidence.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

With a background in Art, Advertising, and Design, Artist Brandon Luther creates soulful works of beautiful creatures and scenery. His passion for photography and love of animals is unmasked and brought to light through his work. He began photographing his neighbor’s horses and cattle as a creative outlet and moments of solitude. These experiences were nothing like the stress of a busy ad agency, they were much more tranquil and he quickly felt a natural connection with the animals. Judging from the meaningful expressions he manages to capture in the eyes of his subjects, that
connection is undeniable. Brandon let his experience in the advertising and design industry enhance his photography. It’s how he knew that the photos alone would not convey the exact aesthetic or intensity he wanted to achieve. The work that goes into each piece after his time spent in the field is just as important as the photography itself. Brandon applies a mixed media treatment to his massive images after mounting them to rustic, handmade frames. These frames are carefully constructed, distressed, and antiqued by Brandon, himself. His final step is to apply a layer of archival
UV varnish that can be in a gloss, satin or matte finish. It is impossible for Brandon to duplicate his mixed media process, therefore, each Southern Bit piece of art is uniquely one-of-a-kind.

A WORD FROM THE ARTIST

“I have always carried a soft spot in my heart for animals. Their intuition is much stronger than we give them credit for. They possess heightened senses for Family, safety and can detect a friend or foe far quicker than us humans ever will. I can’t explain how or why but, I somehow connect with these beautiful, majestic creatures on a spiritual level. I don’t question it. I just accept it and embrace it.”

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

1. The willingness to learn new things.
2. The Courage to put myself and my work out there for the world to see.
3. Not ever putting limits on creativity.

My advice would be to never give up on your dreams and don’t be afraid of failure.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I would love to connect with the Interior designers of the world. I would love to have connections with hospitality groups worldwide in order to have my art installed in hotels all over the world.
