Meet Brandon Matthews

We were lucky to catch up with Brandon Matthews recently and have shared our conversation below.

Brandon, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

It is my personal motto to “live life on purpose.” I want to leave the people and the places that I go better than I found them. I want to live a legacy life, meaning I leave good things behind when I’m gone. With that perspective, I feel successful helping others find success. This passion brings purpose to each and every day that I live, because there is always someone that can be impacted.

I first discovered this purpose early in life simply through serving others. When I placed my focus on those around me rather than myself I found that I was more fulfilled having made a difference in the lives of others. This sense of purpose continues to fuel everything that I do.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am on a mission to reshape the modern workplace by helping organizations foster environments where employees find genuine meaning in their work. I say “bringing meaning back to the marketplace.” Currently 77% of people hate their job. We spend the majority of our lives working, so something has to change.

My approach differs from conventional workplace consulting by focusing on individual purpose rather than strictly improving productivity metrics. My leadership principles are grounded in the belief that successful organizations are built by leaders who care about their employees’ personal and professional growth. I help companies take a deep dive into their internal culture to understand the core challenges and how they can be overcome by creating a more meaningful workplace environment.

I provide a variation of training and speaking options to help organizations be a place people want to be. My presentations blend humor with deep insight, offering tools and strategies that are easy to apply but are profoundly impactful. Companies that have worked with me see significant improvements in employee satisfaction, workplace engagement, and overall morale.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

It can be hard to narrow it down to just three, but I do believe these are incredibly important:

Work Ethic
I often say you don’t have to be the smartest or the most skilled if you have a good work ethic. The willingness to put in the effort, day after day, is irreplaceable. It’s been a motto to simply be the last man standing. That means when everyone else gave up I was still there ready to try again. You can teach people many things, but you can’t always teach work ethic.

Discipline
Discipline drives daily decisions, and daily decisions drive your destiny. Discipline helps you to stay focused and build habits that kept you moving forward. It’s easy to be motivated in the beginning, but discipline ensures you stick with it over the long term. Small, consistent actions lead to big results.

Growth Mindset
Instead of seeing challenges or mistakes as setbacks, a growth mindset views them as opportunities to be better. A growth mindset allows you to see progress rather than perfection. The continual desire to grow has helped me be more open to trying new things, learning from feedback, and to push beyond my comfort zone.

If you want to develop or improve in an area of your life it’s important that change happens with or with you. It’s up to you wether you progress or regress. I made a decision a long time ago about the person I wanted to be and the impact I wanted to have on the world around me. I don’t want change to only happen around me, I want it to happen in me. I want to grow and get better. Make a personal resolve to who you want to be, work hard, be discipled, and stay focused on growth of perfection.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I’m passionate about partnering with business leaders who are ready to transform their companies into places where employees are excited to work and customers are eager to do business. In today’s crowded marketplace, standing out requires more than just good products or services—it takes a commitment to creating a culture of passion and purpose. If there are leaders who genuinely want to make a difference, not just for their bottom line but for the people they serve, I want to be a part of that journey. I want to help create a workplace where employees feel valued and motivated, which in turn builds loyalty and trust with customers. Together, I can help you build a culture that truly stands out by putting people first and leading with integrity and impact.
