Meet Brandon Paul

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brandon Paul a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Brandon , so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

To overcome imposter syndrome, I had to be willing to dive deeper within myself and heal the part of me that did not believe I could do it. Second by second, thought by thought, I had to rewire the way I spoke to myself and the way I thought about my artistry. As cliche as it may sound, I had to believe in myself, in order for those around me to take me seriously as an artist. Once I allowed myself to step into it authentically, I unlocked a whole new level of self-love than I ever thought possible. That journey was one of the hardest to navigate and I still have my days of doubt, but I know I will never give up and I will always overcome because I’m doing what I love.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am a singer/songwriter at heart. I love writing and recording music in my bedroom. I recently began self producing for my own projects for the first time, and I’m enjoying that process.
Aside from singing, writing, and producing, I love content creating and I usually teach or sing on Tiktok in fun and informative ways. That being said, I have a huge passion for teaching. I spend most of my days teaching private voice, piano, and music theory lessons. I love seeing my clients regain their confidence and nothing is more fulfilling than seeing their growth. I am currently developing my private music studio business and I have a lot in the works. I hope to officially launch by the beginning of 2025 and take my teachings to the next level, while learning the ropes of being a business owner.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three qualities that have impacted my music journey the most include growth mindset, gratitude, and curiosity/joy. Building a growth mindset was a difficult journey for me because growing up, I experienced a lot of self-doubt and I struggled with my self-esteem. I began performing at the age of 13 and people always told me how confident I appeared. But, on the inside I put so much pressure on myself that I didn’t always get to enjoy every experience. Once I learned that there is no way to fail, as long as I allow myself to try and continue with my passion for music, I felt a sense of freedom. I felt free to be unapologetically myself in my music journey and in my own life, and began to seek the lesson in everything around me. As for gratitude, learning to appreciate all that I am and all that I am worthy of, was critical. Instead of being self-critical over every little thing or piece of my work, I learned to value every imperfection and see them as a part of myself to embrace. As for curiosity or joy, I learned over time how to embrace my journey and becoming fascinated or curious with things I have yet to learn, rather than discouraged by feelings of inadequacy. That way I am constantly able to keep moving forward and improving, little by little.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I’m always looking to connect with fellow creatives. I really want to connect with more people who are not only passionate about music but are able to approach creating from that same curiosity and joy I spoke of earlier. I grow the most when I work with others, especially when I am surrounded by people who enjoy inspiring each other mutually. I also would love to connect with more artists and singers who want to level up with their vocal ability and unlock their true vocal potential through private lessons with me. I’m always excited to meet new singers and help them achieve their vocal goals.
