Meet Brandon Paulus

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brandon Paulus. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brandon below.

Brandon , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found my purpose by consistently learning new things. But most importantly, applying things I learned to my own life, which revealed skillsets that I never knew I had. Learning new things can open the mind & expose us to things we didn’t know existed before. Curiously learning helped me navigate opportunities which ultimately led to me finding my purpose in life.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a co-founder at Skill Prepare, where we develop educational games with a goal to make learning fun. We currently have 2 VR games on the market. We are currently working on our 3rd game: IQ Monsters. IQ Monsters is an educational online PC game for children 8-13 to help sharpen & build their cognitive skills. We took a unique approach in developing this game that combines fun puzzles with adventure to help kids build problem solving, logic, cognitive, & critical thinking skills. We have been developing IQ Monsters for over a year & expect to release the first version by end of 2023. This is a project that I’m very passionate about & we’ve made it our mission with IQ Monsters to create a fun way to build brain skills.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three qualities or skills that were most impactful in my journey has been my optimism, networking skills, and passion for creating things. First, when starting a business or building anything meaningful, its going to be hard… like really hard. You have to keep a positive attitude, and try things without fear of failure. Every fail is a lesson which will lead you to success, but you have to stay optimistic. Second most important skill that has been most impactful has been networking skills. Its absolutely imperative to network with individuals in your industry. There are a lot of great people out there that can give you guidance or help along your journey. Last but not least is my passion to create things. I truly enjoy building things that have impacts and that people love to use. This has given me the determination & will to do anything that I put my mind to.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When feeling overwhelmed, I like to take a step back & access the situation. If it is an overwhelmingly amount of work, I like to break it down into a list of smaller steps. Then prioritize each task & knock them out with everything you got. If its a decision that has you overwhelmed, & you don’t know what to do, write an outline of the decision. Categorize the decision on a piece of paper by pros / cons & take notes on your thoughts of the decision. This will help you have a macro view of the decision without being as overwhelmed.
