Meet Brandon Perez

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brandon Perez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Brandon, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

At 27 years old, I’ve served in the military, I’ve started multiple businesses, I’ve invested in countless endeavors and none of those would have been possible had it not been for the drive I’ve had because of my life experiences and examples set by my parents.
My work ethic was instilled in me by my parents. However, it isn’t necessarily something they told me growing up or taught me. My parents have been and continue to be the hardest working people I know. That includes my stepfather who has truly been my father since I was a young boy.
I have been blessed by having the example that they all set by being such driven individuals even when life was stacked on top of them.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

– I’m an entrepreneur and investor. I own a gym called SHIFT South Bay, a real estate company that focuses on flips in SoCal and I am opening up a new gym called Sandbox Fitness Club.
– I believe that the most valuable part of what I do is having the opportunity to have an impact on people’s lives. Ever since I decided I was going to serve in the Navy, I only wanted to be of service to my country and to people all around the world. While I was able to accomplish that early on in life, as a business owner, I’ve had the privilege to be of service in so many ways I never thought possible. It’s led me to life changing moments and friendships that I could have never imagined.
– Sandbox Fitness Club will be opening up very soon in Redondo Beach. I’m extremely excited to launch this new gym in the South Bay because I’m truly passionate about the fitness community and creating an environment for everyone to call their second home. The Sandbox will be a seamless experience from the moment you sign up, to checking in and finding yourself in a place you feel comfortable in, making new friends, experiencing a gym culture that is fun, unique and inviting. The Founding Members Club will be launching soon and that’ll lock in the lowest rate that we’ll ever have along with a ton of perks that come with being a member at the Sandbox. I’m extremely excited for the community to experience a gym culture shock that’ll make it fun to go to the gym everyday.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

– Life is hard no matter what you do. You’ll always have ups and downs and what you do in the both of those times will define who you are and who you become.
– Being grateful to all things good and bad has been key to my success. It’s taught me to appreciate the simplest of things and it’s taught me to appreciate the fact that things could always be worst when things aren’t going the way I expected.
– Refusing to see failure as something definitive. Failure in any aspect can simply be a learning lesson if you refuse to give up. I like any other entrepreneur and investor have failed more times than I can count. However, it was those “failures” that taught me one more way of how not to do things and eventually led me to success because of my unwillingness to give up.
– Being kind has truly been a quality that I am beyond grateful for having. I believe I’m a caring and generous individual who simply wants to do good in life for others. Since I can remember, I’ve always just wanted to help others. When I joined the military, I wanted to help others in a warfare. When I started my first business in marketing, I wanted to help businesses grow. Today, I want to help others succeed, help my family pass on generational wealth and pass on acts of kindness because we can all use it. Being kind isn’t something I think about being. It’s simply who I am and get a sense of joy when I have the opportunity to help someone in any way possible.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

In the last year, I’ve become more tolerant to risk. That doesn’t mean I’m reckless and just jump right in but if I do my due diligence on an investment and it looks like a good deal, I’ve learned that unless you go all in, you’ll never know.
Most people sit on the sidelines and wish they would have jumped in on a deal or a business idea. I’ve always believed that if I want to have something, I can have it.
Sandbox for example has been something I’ve wanted for quite some time. Although there were definitely obstacles preventing me from jumping in, it ultimately came down to me doing it or not. At the beginning of 2024, I said this year I was going to open a new gym no matter what and here we are 6-7 months later getting ready to open the doors!
