Hi Brandon , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I would say my resilience comes from growing up in a small town and having minimal resources. When you are forced to make do with little to no resources, you can become very creative. Living in a close-knit community, you learn to adapt and make the most out of what you have. You begin to appreciate the simplicity and beauty of life, and you develop a strong sense of community and belonging. Growing up in a small town also fosters a sense of pride and responsibility. Everyone knows each other, and you can rely on your friends and family for guidance and encouragement. My wife, Grace Roberson;and my parents, Marcia and Thaxton Roberson, have been very steadfast in their encouragement of myself and business in general. So, while growing up in a small town may have its limitations, it also provides fertile ground for resilience to flourish.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I think everyone should know their core audience. I believe once you target your audience, you should then build a brand based off of the wants and needs of this audience. What I have learned in the infancy stages of business is to always provide clear concise communication, world class customer service, and a great product that is memorable. A key quality that we pride ourselves in, is building rapport with our clients. We want to know them! It is extremely important that we know them outside of the business. I can tell you a great deal about our clients because we take the time to get to know them. If they can invest in Orbit Moonwalks, then we can take the time to invest and get to know them! The most significant quality that we have learned is building community where we live. At Orbit Moonwalks, we make it a point to give back. During the school year, we sponsor healthy nutritional drinks, and lunches to schools within the community. This provides a pick me up for teachers within the community to show them that we care. It is a small token that communicates that we care.
I would also say adaptability is another skill that has played a vital role in business success. The ability to quickly adjust to new challenges, market trends, and customer demands is what sets business apart. I believe being adaptable allows the business owner to stay ahead of the curve and make the necessary changes to your strategies, products, or services.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents played a crucial role in helping shape who I am today. My parents along with my grandmother Willie Mae Smith, provided love, guidance, and an encouraging environment. The most impactful characteristic was witnessing my father’s work ethic, which he displayed tirelessly for years on end. Observing his worth ethic has taught me the important values such as discipline, dedication, and responsibility. My father’s “no excuse” attitude helped shape my drive, and determination to succeed in all facets of life. Therefore, I thank my family for everything!
