We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brandon Stalter. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brandon below.
Hi Brandon, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
At the age of 21, I had experienced my first heartbreak and fell into deep depression. Within a short spam from the COVID-19 outbreak, three major events took place that veered me onto a different path in life. The first thing that happened, was shortly after I had gotten accepted into the Ohio State University, they were forced to shut down. The second event that quickly followed, was when I lost my job due to the outbreak. I was slowly falling into the depths of depression, but what ultimately broke me was when I caught my girlfriend at the time, cheating on me. That is what completely broke me as a person. Fast forward, I took nearly three years to focus on myself. I dedicated that time to repair & rebuild myself. I established goals & swore to achieve them. During that time, I learned the most about myself. Merely a broken man, on a mission to rebuild himself. That is where I discovered that no matter how hard life gets, there will always be hope. No matter how terrible the storm is, you have to remember there will always be a beautiful rainbow in the aftermath. I understood the reality of how powerful it is to be independent & not having the need to rely on someone. That is how I developed my confidence & self-esteem.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I use my past to help inspire others. I used bodybuilding as a tool of breaking free from my chains of depression. I was fortunate enough to turn a negative into a positive. Once I decided to turn to lifting weights, I veered onto achieving a certification in fitness training. Once I acquired that, I became so fascinated & didn’t want to stop there. I became obsessed with bodybuilding & decided to partake in my first show. I became absolutely blessed, as when I entered my first bodybuilding competition, I secured first place. Shortly after making the headlines of being their champion, I got signed by a supplemental company called Old School Labs, being their sponsored/paid athlete. I’m grateful to still be with that same company to this day, continuing on creating content for them, doing photoshoots, commercials and more. Fast forward, I decided to take an online course on how I could do even more, such as sign more deals & secure other opportunities that could arise. I finished an Instagram Academy course & established multiple brand deals afterwards. Although I do not do Instagram full-time, I still very much enjoy doing it as a side gig. I love creating motivating content to help inspire others.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The biggest impact was when I fell into the depths of depression. Once I became a broken man, my journey on repairing & rebuilding myself as a person, was when I learned the most about life. One thing I had discovered, is that sometimes it takes multiple failures before you acquire success in life. Embracing failure as part of the journey can lead to greater achievements in the long run.
Fortunately, I’m at a time in my life where I can surprisely be thankful for those hardships in my life. Honestly, if it weren’t for those hard times, I may had never altered my path to fitness/bodybuilding. As I said before, there’s always a rainbow waiting after a harsh storm. I learned to never give up, as God always has a plan, for each & every one of us.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
I must admit I am extremely grateful to have such wonderful parents. All throughout my life, I’ve never been one to talk about my feelings, especially if I’m feeling down, depressed or just going through a hard time. I’ll admit that is a bad quality of mine. However, my parents had an intuition during my depression & did their best on trying to help me. My mom would help motivate me to go to the gym, my dad would give me advice, and we would always spend amazing times at both my grandparents’ place. I’m truly blessed to have grown up in a healthy and tight/close family. Both my grandparents on my mother & father’s side were the absolute best. I cannot thank my parents enough for being perfect. If it weren’t for my mom & dad, I would not be where I am today.
