Meet Brandon Thor

We were lucky to catch up with Brandon Thor recently and have shared our conversation below.

Brandon , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I found my purpose by basically eliminating any normal aspirations that men in my posittion strive for in their careers. What I mean by this is that for most it is quite a linear path in regards to reaching a goal/finding a purpose. That path is generally a promoted job title and/or increased compensation. However, once those goals feel maximized and yet you still feel unfufilled, that is where the real search for purpose commenses. In my life, I achieved signifigant monetary success as a precious metals broker but yet the more monetary success I achieved the more depressed I became. I knew money was not evil but rather money amplifies the qualities that you currently posess. Thus, in the absence of a deep truth that you are seeking you become a hollow consumer of goods and services, at that point frostian decision where there are two roads diverged in your life one being blind acceptance of the instant gratification that your wealth and status provide and the other being an unknown journey which risk both all your wealth and status but promises both the possibility to achieve something greater. I found this by observing some predatory practices that took place in the industry I worked in and the oppurtunity to amelirot them. To do so would require starting a company from scratch and giving up the security of a job title and an attempt to effect change to this company. I knew I had succeeded not when I write this but when I had $20 in my bank account and I was happier than I had ever been in 20 years.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Being a precious metals dealer by nature it handcuffs you to the level of excitement you can persuade someone the job posesses. However, I started this company to distrupt this industry that I believed that needed it and consequenlty helped a large swhat of retirees that were exposed to what I would consider to be somewhat predatory business practices. As such, I have derived excitement from the morality battle between how the business should be conducted and how businesses presently in my industry conduct it.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Self Awareness, ability to delegate and identifying the factors that leads to optimal performance.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?

Yes, it is learning how to both grow and control the level of quality in service expected by my company which all equates to developing trust in those around me.
