We recently connected with Brandy Cochrane and have shared our conversation below.
Brandy, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
Creativity is the source energy for all things in life. Therefore, it’s imperative that we intentionally keep it alive. Personally, exploring the world with a sense of discovery is the way I keep my creativity alive. Interestingly, boundaries are my secret ingredient. I find that the creative mind is big, expansive, and endless. Though beautiful, that much possibility requires a framework to run wild within in order for it to be effective and progressive. Spending time in nature, exploring ways to implement what I’ve just learned, and listening to other people’s stories all help keep the creative spark alive.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m on a mission to ignite excitement around plant-based eating. As a creative at heart, I use food as one of my mediums to help people extract maximum joy from life. What does that mean? I’m a plant-based chef and nutritionist who makes eating well simple, creative, and fun.
I run a company called Plant Candy, with the mission to plant the seed that eating well can be delicious and effortless. Recently, I launched my book, “The Plant-Based Handbook,” and co-authored “The Noah Fast” – tools designed to help people navigate the journey and benefits of incorporating more plant-based foods into their diets.
My approach is all about making plant-based living accessible, enjoyable, and sustainable. Through my work, I aim to inspire others to embrace the vibrant flavors and nourishing properties of plants, not just for their health but also for the sheer pleasure of savoring delicious, wholesome meals.
Whether you’re a seasoned plant-based enthusiast or just starting to explore this lifestyle, I’m here to guide you with creativity, expertise, and a genuine passion for celebrating the incredible diversity of plant-based cuisine.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three skills have been instrumental in my journey: food knowledge, public speaking, and project management. Firstly, I’m constantly reading and learning about the latest information on the benefits of plant-based foods for various lifestyle diseases. This knowledge empowers me to help people make the most of their plates and optimize their health through nutrition.
Secondly, running a business requires effective communication and public speaking skills. Whether it’s engaging with clients, delivering workshops, or teaching others, the ability to articulate ideas clearly and confidently is crucial.
By combining in-depth food knowledge, strong public speaking abilities, and efficient project management, I’ve been able to build a successful business that aligns with my passion for promoting plant-based living and helping others thrive.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m seeking to connect with individuals who work with communities that could benefit from learning how to eat better in an accessible and enjoyable way. This could include those working with older adult communities, students, healthcare professionals, community groups, or church organizations.
By collaborating, we can explore innovative approaches to introducing plant-based eating in a manner that resonates with these diverse groups. Whether it’s through educational workshops, cooking demonstrations, or tailored resources, the goal is to make the transition to a healthier, plant-centric lifestyle feel approachable and enjoyable.
Together, we can break down barriers and misconceptions surrounding plant-based diets, showcasing the vibrant flavors, nutritional benefits, and overall joy that comes with embracing more plant-based foods. By meeting people where they are and understanding their unique needs and preferences, we can create lasting positive impacts on their well-being.
If you or someone you know works closely with communities that could benefit from this initiative, I’d love to connect and explore potential collaborations. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in promoting healthier eating habits and empowering individuals to take control of their well-being through the power of plants.
