Meet Brandy Frisbee

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brandy Frisbee. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brandy below.

Brandy, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?

Optimism is a survival skill for me and always has been. As a child, I had to find something to be happy about as my home life was anything but happy or functional. I was the oldest of 5 children and I decided it was my job to make sure everyone, including my parents, was alright. There is always something beautiful that can be found. I have a survivors mindset and for that, I am grateful. Overcoming obstacles is a part of life and I learned to focus on growth in spite of my pain. Also, understanding the struggles of others I believe has inspires optimism as I do not want others to suffer as I did. Hope and positivity brought me through a childhood of pain and ugliness. Now, as an adult, they drive me. They are quite literally my fuel to keep moving forward.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I create and implement compliant operating procedures for marijuana businesses. As the marijuana industry is still in it’s infancy, rules and regulations are ever changing. As our leaders and the legislature begin to understand the way the industry should look on a legal, professional level, they make new rules for the industry to abide by. As in every industry, it is incredibly difficult to have a successful business. The ever changing rules and increasing regulations on the marijuana industry make it even more difficult to have a successful cannabis business. I help business owners navigate the rules and adjust the way they operate to be more compliant and safer. I also help launch cannabis businesses implementing my standard operating procedures from the start. Cannabis businesses run the risk of going to jail if they do something wrong. I take the worry and concern away by managing the compliance part of their businesses so they can focus on growth. The chaos of the industry is very comfortable for me as my childhood was chaotic. I feel at my best when the pressure is high and things are chaotic.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The most important parts of me and for my journey. First of all, I am willing to listen to anyone about anything. I know without a doubt that there is room for improvement in every aspect of myself, my life, and my business. Knowing that any person that comes across my path has the potential to teach me something has been one of the most valuable gifts in my life and business. Second, I remain positive whenever possible. We all have the ability to decide how each day is going to go no matter what obstacles or surprises come. Last but not least, I spread kindness and positivity and practice being grateful for all things. Meditation is a key to my daily journey. I wake up with a guided gratitude meditation and go to bed each night with a nightly graditude meditation.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

The four Agreements by Don Miguel ruiz made an incredible impact on my life. Don explains that we are all bound by our belief systems that were created as children and challenges us to revisit what we know and consider the possibility that what we know may not be reality. As I navigate raising my children, interacting with others, building business and surviving, I conciously try to implement the four agreements: Be impeccable with your word, Don’t take anything personally, don’t make assumptions, and always do your best. Since reading this book and beginning to work on those four things, my life has drastically improved in every way. Contstantly assuming what people think about me then taking those things personally and living on auto pilot did not serve me. I’m so grateful to have found that book!
