We were lucky to catch up with Breanna Jackson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Breanna , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
For me my work ethic came from knowing I was destined for more in life. I knew I was meant for a life of luxury. With my brand I have now I started and took a break but I always came back. Once I had my son that was the icing on the cake I pushed through and got my LLC and set up shop. Being a first time mom, going to school full time, and working a full time job I still made time for my business and it has grown so much since when I first started. I learned one of the hardest lessons which was you can’t do everything by yourself. I invested into my brand and hired a professional brand designer and business coach and I’ve seen so much improvement. It’s definitely worth the investment and I’ m only making more. They say “it takes money to make money.” It also takes hard work and dedication for real. Give yourself 6 months of real drive and dedication and see how far you go in your brand. That 6 months could put you years ahead in your brand and be the exact reason somebody shops with you instead of other brands.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I started my business in June 20th 2020 a couple months after I had my son. He was my motivation. We started out first just selling virgin hair. We then added lip gloss and yoni care. Then the guys felt left out so we added durags and a men’s self care line. On March 15th 2021 I got my LLC for my business. We then added a hair care line and Raw Hair to our business. We are your one stop shop everything hair and beauty. I been in business 3+ years now and It has definitely been a journey but I wouldn’t change my walk for nothing. Its not always consistent but I love the fact of having something that is mine. Even though it’s not the traditional way it’s mine and I’ve learned a-lot about my brand and myself along this journey. My favorite part of this whole experience is packaging my customers orders and seeing their reactions and reviews. We’re planning a big relaunch for our business with all new everything so be on the look out January 1, 2024. Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three things that helped me along this journey was my passion for hair and beauty, consistency (showing up for my brand consistently) and consistency doesn’t mean everyday but showing up 4-5 times on social media throughout the week, going live, introducing your brand, talking to your audience, and last but not least discipline (never giving up on my dream). My advice would be to never give up and don’t go around telling everybody your dreams and ideas. People that you think are your friends/family will pray on your downfalls. Keep pushing and stay silent during the grind. Announce moves after they are made. This here is a good one idk who told us that in business we have to do everything yourself. Don’t be cheap invest in your brand and get the help you need whether graphics, marketing, or branding. You can expect your clients to invest in your brand when you don’t. Never feel like you have to do everything on your own. It’s better to get help from the professionals than to try to do it yourself and wind up still in the same position.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
The people who have helped me through this long journey were my family pushing me to be great. Id also like to thank my business coach Coach Ari and my brand designer Anyea Renee. These girls helped me see my brand in a whole new light for real and helped me get in the right direction to hit my goals.
