Meet Bren Holmes

We were lucky to catch up with Bren Holmes recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Bren, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

My optimism comes from being able to create music and being able to perform and record that music for people…seeing people faces light up or moving someone because of something you created is priceless and it keeps me going and gives me hope…

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m a singer/songwriter who’s originally from Dublin, Ireland that currently lives in Los Angeles, California.
I was an original member of the Irish rock band called ‘The Young Dubliners’. I recorded nine albums with them and toured the world for the last 28 years.
I parted ways back in 2019 to pursue a solo career. I’m currently working on my second solo album as of now and hope to release it in the spring. All my music is available on all the major streaming services and I have videos on my YouTube channel too.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Well obviously, good musicianship, communication skills and passion would be the three that has helped me down the road… I would advise people to make as many contacts as possible and to be kind to everyone you meet along the way…you never know when you might need their help or vice versa!

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?

The biggest challenge I have for right now is finding a booking agent that will get me out on the road…I’m about start a campaign of emails to contacts I have to see whats out there…
