Meet Brendan Luke Trogdon

We were lucky to catch up with Brendan Luke Trogdon recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Brendan Luke with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic definitely stems from the environment I was raised in! From my parents, to teachers, to coaches, and even my grandparents, everyone around me demonstrated a strong work ethic and raised me to be the same. Beyond that, my work ethic comes from the vision I have for my future and what I want to achieve.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’d love to tell you a little more about myself and what we do! At Royal Photos we’re here for almost any of your photo & video needs. From weddings & elopements, sports, and portraits, to real estate, product, and other commercial work, we’re here to bring your vision to life and deliver high quality imagery!

Specializing in a true-to-life, documentary style, we’re sure to capture your story, space, or product in it’s best light. That means capturing all of the candid, emotional moments on your big day; bringing your portrait session ideas to life; or conveying the essence and feel that your home or space brings, through captivating photo & video.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Firstly, I would definitely say that I’m still early in my journey too – and still have a ton of growth to achieve! But the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that have help me most would definitely have to be having a business mindset and having an educational background in finance, being flexible, and embracing the uncomfortable.

My background in and knowledge of finances have helped tremendously as I started this journey with a small budget and finances are the backbone of any operation. Im able to handle almost all activities myself and actually understand whats coming in and going out every month.

And having a business mindset kind of ties in with being flexible and embracing the uncomfortable. As a business owner, when starting out you have to understand that it may take long hours and hard work to get yourself off the ground and build up your brand. It means being able to respond to change in the external environment (like our current economic environment) and being able to adapt. Having that business mindset means understanding that embracing the uncomfortable means embracing growth.

There are tons of books and audios available that can help you build up that mindset in yourself!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
We’re always looking to collaborate and partner with others! Whether that means partnering with other wedding vendors to offer our services together, or working with a non profit to provide high quality imagery to those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford it, we’re open to any and all collaboration ideas!
