Meet Brent Hammer

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brent Hammer. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Brent, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
I keep my creativity alive by following the top creatives in various sports to always push me to get different creative angles and come up with new ideas that may not have been done before. I’m a firm believer that I’m at my best if others push me to continue to raise the bar and never be satisfied.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Brent Hammer and I’m a freelance content producer located in Raleigh, NC that specializes in sports. The most exciting thing about what I do is the ability to create everlasting memories for my clients. Something that they’ll look back on weeks, months, years, even decades to remember a specific time in their life. Also, the ability to travel across the world doing something that I love and get paid to do is one of the best feelings I’ve ever experienced.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Organization, Communication, and Professionalism. All three I use on a daily basis whenever I’m on set. Organization can help eliminate 90% of the problems before, during, and after every shoot. Communication, which is one of the most important things in this industry because you have to be able to communicate not only to your client, but to others around them and even other creators on the shoot. You need to be able to communicate your vision for the project but at the same time be able to make the clients vision come to life as well. Lastly, professionalism. Probably the most important of the three. You need to carry yourself in the best light in this industry. This industry is very cut-throat sometimes with the constant new additions of up and coming creatives and you need to be able to set yourself apart from those around you to ensure your clients never think about changing who they hire for a job.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
The biggest area of growth for me recently has been the quality of my photos. When I created my business, I founded it on the basis of being a videographer first, photographer second. For the better part of my journey, I never worked on my photography skills until the previous 6+ months where I really honed in on it and pushed myself to be better in that aspect to where all 3 phases of my business (Video, Photo, and Graphics) are all on the same playing field in terms of quality.
