We recently connected with Brett Roth and have shared our conversation below.
Brett, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I truly had no idea that there was a job such as a Private Investigator until I needed to hire one. The investigator I hired became a mentor for me, I looked up to the way he ran his company, his empathy, his thought process behind it all. As he worked my case, I listened to how he handled other cases, how he could relate to some of his clients. I thought about how I too could relate to Clients as well. I too have had a nasty divorce and custody battle, I too have been told I’m a monster, but with no proof to back this up. My case made me want to dedicate my job to proving people right or wrong. Right because they are being attacked, being told they’re a terrible person. Wrong because of the people who are doing wrong, wrong to their family, wrong to their spouse, wrong to others.
As the months turned into years, as I’ve worked case after case, I realized I feel a sense of great accomplishment once my Clients go to court and I go on the stand and tell the truth, tell everyone what I’ve found. I found that my passion to do Clients right, this job, is my purpose.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I investigate criminal and civil cases. I have been licensed since 2017. Clients call me with some off the wall stories. Most true, some, not so much. A lot of the people that contact me have situations that are farfetched, but, after some investigating, holds some truth. It gives me great pleasure to go to court for my Clients and provide them with all the evidence I have against my suspects. Now, there are cases that yield no evidence or not enough evidence. I can give my professional opinion if the Client should continue the case or not, but ultimately it’s up to the Client.
At Blue Falcons Investigation, we do criminal and civil. We also do Digital Forensic work. We can pull data off phones, computers, hard drives, and more.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I try and stay very humble for my work, skills, and point of views for Private Investigating. With that, I try to stay a ‘sponge’. I am easy to educate, I like to learn new techniques, and I try to keep up with new ways to investigate. Other investigators may not agree with my way of investigating, but, if it works for me and my company and it makes sense, then I stick with it. Every year, I do take classes, upgrade equipment, and look back at my past investigations to look for areas of improvement, I am my biggest critic.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
I learn something new with every case I do. There is a case I’ve been actively investigating for the past three years and I am still learning from it everyday. One of the biggest things I’ve learned and have told myself since day one of this job, more information is better than little information. Have 50 plus cars in a parking lot or near my suspect? I’ll grab as many license plate numbers as I can. I capture as much information as possible through video, photos, notes, anything for all of my cases, This attention to detail is something I try and improve each case and everyday.
