Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Breunna Jaee. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Breunna , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I didn’t. My Purpose found me. As a young girl i always saw my mom doing hair for other ladies and their reactions once she was done, the conversations, the laughs, it made me happy! i always wanted to feel that joy and happiness. i would go in my room and play beauty shop with my dolls, play in my little cousin’s hair, even the dogs! At 6 yrs old i braided my baby dolls hair and my mom didn’t believe me and she said DO IT AGAIN so i did! She went nuts, called my grandma and told me show her, and from then my passion grew! I would do my classmates hair in middle school and high school, then once graduating i went to cos school to educate myself further start my career, and oh the joy in educating yourself on things you love!! Although i went to an actual in person facility a lot of things i already knew because watching my mom, so i like to say im self taught! Ive always been hands on but youtube was my favorite university! I just love hair, scalp, the beauty in making people beautiful and feel great about themselves! Its my comfort zone, and we all feel better when we look better, so i see myself as changing lives ONE SCALP AT A TIME and that, that lights fire under me!
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I AM BREUNNA JAEE! www.tuggajaee.com MOM, ENTREPRENEUR, CEO! Those are only a few of my titles, which i have many! I am the Owner of Hair Harmanye All Things Beauty! My salon name comes from my daughter who’s name is Harmanye pronounced as HARMONY. After completing school i said im not working in anyone’s shop IM GOING INTO MY OWN, and i did just that! 2016 i graduated, 2017 i open my first full functioning beauty salon! by 2020 i had owned 2 salons and started my own product line ” La Buee” which means moisture in French! My product line flourished big time and is now in 2 stores and many beauty salons in louisiana and texas! I’ve mentored several ladies during my career, including my own daughter who also does locs at 12yrs old! Her hands are just as blessed as mine, so anytime i need a little extra help in the salon she’s there to assist. This has been a passion of mine since a young girl and the feel of excitement and amazement only grows stronger! IN THE FUTURE IM LOOKING TO EXPAND ALL OVER! To be one of the top Brands/Salons ever!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Prayer, consistency, Educating myself! No matter what anyone says TALK TO GOD and YOURSELF, be consistent with you! Be intentional with everything you do!! Move as if you already have what you desire! Don’t tell anyone what you’re doing until it’s DONE! Boss move in silence! Some days are better than others but everyday you get the chance to make it what YOU DESIRE! So even if yesterday was not ok, today you get the chance to make this day ok!!
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
CELEBRITIES’! I WANT TO BE..NO I WILL BE A CELEBRITY STYLIST! I want to do hair for ppl who are already famous and make them feel/look even more amazing! i want to look at music videos, movies, photoshoots and just think to myself whew chile who did their hair! i want to see my work on higher platforms!
