We were lucky to catch up with Breyan Samuels recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Breyan with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
Growing up, my role models were my great-grandmother Lillie B, my grandmothers Joise and Maebell, and, most importantly, my mom, Donna. Throughout my childhood, I always saw them working hard to provide for themselves and their families. Having the influence of such independent women helped mold my work ethic tremendously.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a professional braider based in the Lawrenceville area of Atlanta, originally starting my journey in Arkansas. Braiding is more than a job to me—it’s a form of art and a way to connect with my clients. One of the most exciting parts of what I do is creating styles that make people feel confident and proud. I focus on providing quality and comfort while ensuring each style reflects my clients’ unique personalities and preferences.
What’s special about my work is the energy I bring to each session. I grew up influenced by strong, independent women who instilled in me the value of hard work, which shows in my dedication to my craft. I want clients to feel that when they sit in my chair; it’s about more than just a hairstyle—it’s about an experience.
I’m excited to be expanding my services and continuing to grow my brand here in Atlanta. Keep an eye out for upcoming styles, exclusive designs, and potential collaborations. Thank you for supporting my journey and for trusting me to bring your vision to life!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Resilience: Building a career, especially as an independent artist, requires perseverance. There were challenging moments, from moving to a new city to establishing myself in a new market. Staying resilient kept me focused on my goals even when things got tough. For anyone starting out, I’d advise expecting setbacks but knowing they’re part of the journey. Learn from each experience, and use it to fuel your growth.
2. Strong Work Ethic: Growing up, I was lucky to have role models who showed me what hard work looked like. They inspired me to stay dedicated to my craft and constantly improve. For those early in their journey, remember that success rarely happens overnight. Give your best in everything you do, stay committed, and take pride in your work. This dedication is what clients notice and remember.
3. Connecting with People: My ability to understand my clients’ needs and make them feel comfortable in my chair has been invaluable. This connection is what transforms a service into an experience. To those starting out, focus on really listening to your clients and building trust. These relationships often lead to repeat business, referrals, and a sense of fulfillment in what you do.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m absolutely open to partnerships and collaborations! I’d love to work with fellow beauty professionals, artists, and creatives who share a passion for style, self-expression, and community. I’m especially interested in collaborating with photographers, makeup artists, fashion designers, and influencers who want to create unique and inspiring projects.
