Bri, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?

I reminded myself of how I feel when I am stepping in my purpose and the people I have enlightened or opened up by my voice and lyricism. I also transmute their negativity and use it as fuel to light my fire

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a Jill of all trades. I’m a queer artist , business woman , holistic healer , shaman , song writer , model , tarot reader and the list goes on ! I created my business “ The Melanin Universe” in 2020 . Bringing awareness to the moon cycles , positive mantras , sharing people’s crafts musically and business wise on my website as promotion . Along with my services of being a healer . Musically I dropped my 1st album “Eye Am Isis” and a sensually free music video . It was the first step of getting out of my own way and experimenting with my voice . The melanin universe is a diverse company, I’m the first artist collaborating with my business along with creating clothing/merch and being a guide for future business owners , musicians and models.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Discipline , Tunnel Vision and consistency . I’ve always kept my eyes on the prize even after all the projections , black balling , lies and rejection. I always kept myself connected to my dreams/visions I’ve had as a jit on me being an international impactful artist , creator and woman. My advice would be one thing about manifestation / prayer is those are the seeds you planted but what will show and prove that you actually want it deep in your soul is consistency. Watering those seeds , giving it sunlight , speaking kindly to them and protecting it. Treat what you want like the seeds you plant on the ground .

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

I sometimes get distracted by worldly things and connections . My mission is on a soul level and I get caught up in the facade of the world/ people . Throwing me off course but it takes a shorter amount of time every time I drift off to get back into it . I change my point of view of it though to help with being to hard on myself and I realize my distractions help with my creativity
