Meet brian ernst

We were lucky to catch up with Brian Ernst recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Brian, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

When I first started working with Jerome LeBlanc aka Maverick it was not easy to put on a movie correct Navy flight suit and walk into a crowd of thousands of people. Everyone knows Jerome but I had no idea how they would respond to me. I remember doing the Coronado Island July 4th parade which Jerome has a float in every year. As we began moving before the main parade route everyone was walking up to the float asking for pictures. We do our BEST to bring back that loving feeling and have no problem with multiple takes…Tony Scott would be proud. I remember someone asking me if I would take a picture with the Admiral’s wife and I said absolutely and took a picture with her she was very kind to me. After a few minutes I thought about it and said Jerome you know the Admiral’s wife just asked me for a picture and he said get used to it Iceman. That put my confidence at another level when I realized everyone really liked what we were doing as a Top Gun Tribute like nobody else has ever done. As the parade entered the halfway point all the cameras, the announcer and bleachers filled with Navy Officers in dress whites were enjoying the moment. We stopped for pictures and I knew this was my time to put fear aside and walk up to them. As they sat there hundreds of Navy officers with perfect uniforms I said to them “I just want to know…who’s the best pilot??” I could see them all laughing and realized we had something big here. Since then Jerome and I became members of ICAS and have performed at over 50 air shows across the country and many events and venues. We have a busy schedule again this year and are grateful for all the support. The best thing anyone can do to build confidence and self-esteem is simply put fear aside and go for it. Do you have what it takes to be the Best of the Best?

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

We have a busy schedule again this year with air shows, trade shows, corporate event’s and parties. We continue to push the envelope and will have some new sponsors this year which we will announce very soon. We love to meet everyone and make friendships for a lifetime, trade Top Gun lines from the movie and give the Best high fives everywhere we go. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three things you need to have if you want to be the Best of the Best in anything you want to achieve. First you need to love everyone genuinely and want to give them your best at whatever you do. Second be humble, this quality will take you far in life never think you are too good for someone else, be the difference you make in their life. Third have no fear, be bold take the risk you can only learn from failure to improve the next time. Remember there’s no points for second place.
