We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brian “Zayy” Langford. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brian “Zayy” below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Brian “Zayy” with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I would say I get my work ethic from my dad ever since I can remember he has always instilled in me how important it is and how far it gets you in life and years later im still using the same lessons to not only improve my business but my own personal goals.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a music producer & audio engineer, that pretty much entails a lot of the pre and post production work done with all the music we hear whether its your favorite artist new album or the new show you’re binge watching. I deal with everything from making the instrumental/beat to putting the final touches and effects on a record before its released.
What I find to be the most exciting part is making the beat because there are endless possibilities to how the world will hear it. It might be the instrumental to the next biggest hit, a theme song for a show, or the music you hear on the elevator.
There are a bunch of new projects that just released as well as some that are on the way!! My collab tape with Snypa entitled “Sacred Chakras” thats on all platforms. I love that project because its like a trap island fusion very unique and has been doing some great numbers. I also have another project releasing soon with Izzarah a very talented artist that has been featured on HIdden Gems recently.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three things you have to have mastered to be successful in the music industry is Knowledge & Understanding of the Music Business, Social Media, and Passion!
When it comes to understanding the business you have to know what all the details in the contract means, what kind of deal your getting into, and how this placement is going to be registered and then ensuring it is registered properly so you get all your money.
Social Media is a must for any business in 2025 but especially in the music industry because it serves as your digital business card. Its going to be how 90% of people are introduced to you and then the other 10% are going to base how they perceive you off of it!
Passion, its something that you cant teach but rather something you just have to have in this industry. The amount of trials and tribulations you are going to endure in this industry are going to be long, harsh, and quite frankly will push you too the edge at times and if you dont have that passion your just not going to be able to handle it if im being honest.
If I could give someone starting some advice I would say find your sound, build your brand and image via social media, and keep going regardless. Dont hold back sending that dm or taking that risk to build your dream. Remember if you won’t bet on yourself, who will?
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’m absolutely always looking for someone to collaborate and work with. I’m looking for driven & serious artist, producers, and engineers. Well really anybody who’s serious about their craft and wanting to take it to the next level!
