Meet Briana Morris

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Briana Morris. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Briana, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
Creativity is the evolution of moments. Whether the moment be singular or swarming with people, penetrated by excruciating stillness or the clamor of convulsing barbarity it is a moment nonetheless. I aim to live a full unapologetic life filled with risks, pain, adventures, and laughter. My creativity stays alive by keeping my eyes open, loosening the strings of my heart, allowing my mind to explore, and giving my spirit an opportunity to wonder. If we dare to live more moments with boldness and take a deep gaze, creativity is living all around us. From wall-to-wall, from the milky way to the ocean floor, it’s a living breathing thing and all we have to do is tap in. By allowing myself to mingle with the pieces of me that live in freedom, curiosity, awe, and courage, I keep my creativity alive. The process is beautiful, unapologetic, and
complex.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am the Chief Executive Officer of B Mor Productions (BMP). We are an American entertainment company and our mission is to produce marketable entertainment with bold storytelling that shapes the culture and elevate cinematic media and digital content. We recently released our first-ever production apparel line. BMP is excited to share exclusive production wear that is not only durable but fashionable and chic. It’s wearable merch for bold storytellers. We’re not only shaping the culture with our cinema but through our clothing as well. This year, my company will be premiering two films: a feature film and a documentary. Sketchcism: Mor Laughter Please! is a sketch comedy feature film where I play 20-25 characters. It’s a new take on parodies, humorous sketches, and witty circumstances. Think of it as a onewoman show captured on camera. Behind the Laughter Vlogumentary is a vlog + documentary archiving the making of a passion project. From a subgenre, you didn’t know you needed, this film explores the experimental world of curiosity and process. It welcomes the audience into a reflexive account of everyone who came together to see the project through. This next chapter for B Mor Productions includes blazing the path forward for bold storytellers of the next generation. Through our production house, B Mor Studios, we will be creating a space to elevate and make connections through storytelling, media, and thoughtful engagement. We’re coming for all of the storytellers and we’re coming with resources. Get ready!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

FAITH. INTEGRITY. GRIT. Surviving this journey means putting my faith in the holy grail of hope daily. Hoping with a strong belief and expectation that what will be will come. As a believer I know where my help comes from, and it navigates my decisions as a CEO. B Mor Productions has been built on confident assurance and sacred conviction that we are meant for more. Our drive is to promote bold storytelling and influence forward representation within our borders and beyond. Through motion pictures, television, theatre, music, digital cinema, and independent works we strive to work with the utmost values and ethics. As a company, we pride ourselves on pushing the
envelope and challenging the status quo with uncompromising honesty. As we probe the discoveries of life, we believe our virtues will continuously guide us toward progression and forward movement for all storytellers. Throughout this journey, our skin has gotten tougher, our tenacity has gotten stronger and our problem-solving has become more efficient. BMP’s impact is the derivative of
endurance and gumption. For those who are in the early stages of their journey, I encourage you to build a firm foundation and plant roots in a vision greater than yourself. As you work, build a compass based on virtue and ethics. It will guide you as you start to feel the success of your impact and as you grow don’t lose your courage. It will expand your impact and territory as you evolve.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
There are two books that I believe every person should read: Talk Like Ted by Carmine Gallo and Don’t Drop the Mic by TD Jakes. Regardless of where you are in life, whether you’re an artist-prenuer, an accountant, a politician, a sanitation guru, or a volunteer at a local hospital, get your hands on a copy of these books! They are essential because both texts break down how to actualize and communicate an idea. Talk Like Ted discusses the master within, learning to laugh and remembering your ultimate goal. It challenged me to sell my ideas persuasively; think like a world innovator; and speak like a global leader. Don’t Drop the Mic is a charge in and of itself. It discusses the power of conveying a message, amplifying one’s message, and speaking the truth in every message. This read teaches one how to transmit a thought to speech while communicating with power, poise, and personalization. In these life-changing books, you’ll learn how to be content, not complacent, in a continued strive for more. To anyone interested in achieving the most audacious goals, 10 out 10 I would highly recommend.
