Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brianna Benitez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brianna, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Both of my parents are very hardworking people. Ever since I was a little girl, all my teachers used to say how hardworking I was. I was the first one to finish my assignments, completing extra work, multi-tasking and putting a lot of effort into my work. As I got older, many kept telling me the same thing. I worked at my full-time job while working a part-time job for almost 2 years. At some point I had to babysit on the weekends and work as well. Every time I get told that I am hard working I always say that I get it from my parents.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I always enjoyed taking photos of places, people, nature, etc. Exploring new places and creating memories are things I love capturing by taking photos. My old friends used to tell me that I was great at taking photos. That’s when my passion began growing and began practicing by, taking more photos. Eventually, I created an Instagram and Facebook account where I would post all my photos. I learned how to edit more and eventually gained more followers. People liked my content including my friends and family. As I progressed along the years I learned more about how to impact my small business. A lot of my friends called and texted for photoshoots which was a fun time. As time flew I received more recognition by the community and spread the word. Although my business is still growing time by time I will not let photography go.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I will say that it requires patience. Patience is very important because everything happens for a reason at the time being. I had to reach out to people to grow my pages. Learning and researching a lot is very important specifically on what you’re passionate about. Eventually you will begin to experience more as you go and can make new changes.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
In today’s society, it is difficult to balance out everything that is going on in my personal life. Apart from photography and worrying about contacting new clients, it’s also about my family and what step is next in my life. Photography is and will always be my passion but I am having trouble making more time for it. Being a full-time medical assistant and having little time to contact my clients makes me feel anxious. It’s overwhelming due to working on both jobs around the same time. The economy today is not easy to live in financially. I am currently trying to find a better way to have more free time to focus on photography and be able to provide for my family and be able to achieve my goals. Something that is helping me to not be as overwhelmed is that my time will come as I go with the flow and either accept or reject the things that appear in my life. I like to write my thoughts down and work out to not create more stress in my situation. I tell myself that I need patience for my goal to come together at some point even if it means waiting for a while. As a person who believes in Jesus Christ, reading my bible and praying has created more peace in my life which reduces the stress and negative thoughts in my head. Overall, things will work itself out as I am trying to progress and put in the work.
