We were lucky to catch up with Brianna Carey recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brianna, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
Walking through life in a sacred, and generous way looks like understanding reciprocity— what it feels like, what it looks like, and the way it effects others. I know reciprocity is one of the greatest forms of generosity. Reciprocity helps others feel appreciated and seen, and usually requires meeting someone one where they are. Reciprocity paves the way to transformation and transcendence— it requires inspired action, careful consideration, and accountability from all parties. It leads all parties involved back to space of support and generosity.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
When I was 26, I stepped out of the corporate world and into my solopreneur journey and lifestyle. I am now 34 and have since been on my soloprenuer/self-employed journey for 7 years. B. Carey Inc. is the hub for all of my brand development work including but not limited to brand strategy, brand design, web and graphic design, and social media content creation (this is how I started). B. Carey Inc. is also my hub for all of my feel better services, tarot services and pop-up yoga offerings.
I have recently launched what I call “The Quicky.” The Quicky came to life when I kept encountering people who were ready to make creative decisions, who were ready to write and share their story, and who were ready to get to market, yesterday. In 10 days we create a brand guide lite, create a simple site prepped snd ready for growth and expansion in the future, and with careful and fun collaboration we get you to market in ten days. Interested? Visit my site, and send me a message!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Surround yourself with people who know more than you; learn your systems– their shortcuts and find the most robust systems to keep thing streamined; and learn to adapt and pivot.
It all takes practice, the market moves fast and feedback is gold. What works for one person might not be what works for you. Someone wise told me each client/project has to check two of the three– the people, the money, or the project. Checking two of those boxes will raise the bar for you, your journey and your sanity.
Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?
Balance is everything in my Libran world (Libra is my sign in two of the “big three”). Balance looks like taking stock of all four manifestations- the physical, the mental, the emotional, and the spiritual. Each one is pertinent to your survival, and your productivity. When any one of these has gotten away from you it becomes much more challenging to be inspired, grounded, and ready to face life’s challenges, business or otherwise. This overflows into how you do life, and the way you ultimately show up.
