We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brianna Pineda. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brianna below.
Hi Brianna, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My strong work ethic stems from my determination to succeed. As a self-motivated perfectionist and overachiever, I have always pushed myself to excel. Growing up, I faced several challenges, but I discovered a powerful outlet in the beauty industry. It has become a source of strength, confidence, and creativity for me, and that passion drives my commitment to my craft every single day.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’ve been in love with the beauty industry for as long as I can remember! It all started as a little girl experimenting with my mom’s makeup and practicing on a mannequin head I received for Christmas. I spent countless hours watching YouTube tutorials, perfecting braids and makeup techniques, and dreaming of turning my passion into a career.
In 2021, I attended cosmetology school in Denton, TX, where I became a licensed cosmetologist. Soon after, I completed a Makeup Artistry Certification from a renowned makeup academy. In 2023, I expanded my skill set by becoming a certified lash technician, proudly offering lash services in Prosper, TX. Whether you’re a bride preparing for your big day, a senior celebrating a milestone, or someone needing glam for a special occasion, I’m here to be your beauty bestie!
This career has always been my dream, and I am committed to growing and evolving within the beauty industry. Growing up surrounded by beauticians and working in salons only deepened my passion and shaped my focus on all things beauty.
When I’m not glamming up my incredible clients, I’m spending quality time with my family. I have two adorable nephews, David and Leo, and a beautiful niece, Luna, who bring so much joy to my life. I also love working out, reading, and indulging in my favorite TV show, Grey’s Anatomy.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I believe the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been my work ethic, motivation, and determination. It’s easy to say, ‘I don’t want to work in corporate America anymore,’ or ‘I want to work for myself and make my own schedule,’ but the reality of building a business is far more challenging. As a business owner, you wear many hats: you’re the artist, accountant, social media marketer, brush cleaner, admin assistant, and more. There are countless responsibilities that come with entrepreneurship.
Without self-motivation, it’s hard to set and stick to a schedule. Without determination, setbacks can lead to failure. And without a strong work ethic, it’s easy to fall into complacency. In a corporate job, accountability is often built into the structure, but as an entrepreneur, that accountability has to come from within.
I’ve found that mastering these three qualities creates a solid foundation for building and maintaining a successful business. While I don’t claim to be an expert, I can confidently say that these traits have been essential to my growth and ability to thrive.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
In the past, feeling overwhelmed would lead me to shut down and lose motivation. But now, when those feelings creep in, I remind myself of something important—I prayed for this. I prayed for an abundance of clients, for my dream career to become a reality. I prayed for the day when I could wake up feeling fulfilled, at peace, and overjoyed to do what I love.
When I need an extra push, I turn to self-care. Whether it’s an everything shower, a relaxing face mask, a pedicure day, or even a quick trip to Chick-fil-A for a sweet tea, these small acts help me reset. I’ve learned that stress and overwhelm can prevent you from performing at your best, so being able to recognize those moments and redirect my energy has been a game changer for me.
